Chapter One – The Weak Omega

295 Words
“Move, mutt!” The warrior’s son shoved me so hard that my knees scraped against the training ground gravel. I bit back a cry as the scent of iron filled my nose. My palms bled, but I didn’t lift my head. If I showed weakness, they would only hit harder.Around me, the young wolves of Silverfang Pack trained with ease. Their bodies glowed with strength, their wolves already awakened. I, at seventeen, remained wolfless.“Pathetic.” The Beta’s daughter sneered, flicking her glossy black hair. “You’ll never shift. You’ll never fight. You don’t belong here.”Laughter rippled through the circle.I clenched my fists. Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t cry.My brother my perfect, golden brother stood across the field. Alpha heir in training. Damian Blackwood. He didn’t laugh, but he didn’t stop them either. His sharp golden eyes swept over me with cold disgust, as if I wasn’t his blood. That cut deeper than the gravel in my skin.“Enough!” The trainer barked. “Get up, girl. You’re wasting everyone’s time.”I pushed myself to my feet, pain biting into me with every breath. My wolf remained silent, locked inside me, refusing to come forth. I wondered if I even had one. That night, I sat alone on the pack house roof, watching the moon glow. I whispered into the night, “Moon Goddess… why me? Why make me weak when all I want is to be strong? Why curse me with this shame?”The wind carried no answer. But my chest ached with a strange pull, a spark in my veins. It was the first sign. The bond awakening. And I had no idea that my mate… the one destined for me… was the last person in the world I could bear.
