I shook his hand, making the deal official. After a few moments, I got up to get ready to leave. "We are leaving in two days so get all your good-bye's out while you can." He said, walking past me and opening the door. As I was walking down the hallway, I was wondering how I was going to tell Jazz I was leaving.

I went back to the slave quarters and flopped on my bed. I lay there for a long time thinking things over and about how much was going to change. "Are you really going to go through with this?" Elena, my wolf asked. "What choices do I have? It's not like we can reject him." I barked back. " Don't get upset with me, it's not like I knew he was our mate and you made the deal without even asking me." She growled back. "I know. I am sorry. I should have asked you first. Look on the bright side, you'll be able to feel that stuff soon and as soon as I can shift, I promise to let you out as much as I can." I replied.

"I am grateful you are my human. But remember, the first time we shift is going to be painful, no matter how much you have built up your body," she warned me. "I know," I said, tired. After lying there for a bit more, I decided to get up and go to the library to read some manga. As I was reading I felt someone come up behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw Beta Mike. "Happy birthday Esme." He said, smiling down at me. "Thank you, Mike," I replied as I shut the manga I was reading.

"So how are you? I haven't seen you at your mandatory warrior classes." He asked, looking down at me. "I had to assist the Alpha King all week," I told him with a smirk. "I know, but that is no reason to miss your classes. I also heard you are his mate." He replied as he came around me and sat in the chair across from me. I put the book over my face and sunk into the chair.

"So does everyone know?" I asked, put the book down, and looked at him. "Just me and Alpha Nick right now." He said as he folded his hands in his lap. " Well, did you know he wants to see if he finds another mate in a year, then he will reject me," I told him with a little sass. "Heard that too. But I was surprised you agreed to do it." He responded, giving me a curious look. I gave him a sideways smile. "I didn't do it for myself, I did it for Jazz. He agreed to set her free after the year is up if I did this." I said in a caring tone.

"You really care about her, don't you?" He asked. "I do and, no matter what, I will give my life up for her, to give her everything she needs and wants," I said back to his comment. "As long as you know what you are doing, I am for it." He said as he got up and left. What did he mean as long as I knew what I was doing? Of course, I did. I was a little upset with his comment. Ya, of course, I might be giving up some of my life, but if that meant the people I loved and cared about were safe and had everything they needed, then so be it.

After reading for about two hours, I decided to go get something to eat. When I got to the kitchen, I saw Jazz running around trying to get stuff done for tonight's dinner. "Need any help guys?" I asked as I walked in. They all turned around and yelled, "ESME."

"It's your birthday. You're not working." A girl with golden blonde hair said. " Don't worry, Beth, I am not here to work. I am just getting some lunch." I said back as I chuckled.

Beth was the new girl I was training to take my place when I left. She was living up to the expectations so far that I have brought to the table over the past few years.

"You know what I don't understand? Why do they always put wolves in charge of us?" Rose nastily remarked as she ran into the pantry. "You'll get used to Rose's nasty remarks," I said, laughing. She smiled back at me and shook her head. "I think I already have." She said back. I gave her a fist bump and walked over to the fridge and started to take stuff out to make myself a sandwich. As I watched them run around working, I thought to myself, how am I going to tell them I have to leave in two days?

After eating, I motioned for Beth to follow me to the hallway. "What up?" She asked. "Listen, I have to leave in two days. It turns out I am the Alpha King's mate." I watched her jaw drop as I told her this. It took her a few minutes but she finally spoke. "How are you going to tell the rest of us?" She asked, rubbing her hand up the side of her face. "I don't know. I am not even sure how I am going to tell Jazz," I replied, looking down.

I think you should tell Jazz first. I think she'll take it the hardest." She commented. I knew she was right. I had to tell Jazz somehow. I also had to let her know about the deal I made too. All this was starting to become a lot. "OK do me a favor, have Jazz meet me in our room around 8 pm tonight," I told Beth, holding her shoulder. "I will. " She said and went back into the kitchen.

I ran a couple of more errands I wanted to get done. As I was headed back to my room to meet Jazz, I ran into Alpha Nick. "Hello, sir," I said to him with a smile. "Just the person I wanted to see." He said as he stopped walking. "OH is it about me and Aphla Cyrus?" I asked him curiously. "It is. I wanted to make sure that you understand everything you are doing." He said as he patted me on the head. I pushed his hand away slowly. "Beta Mike asked the same thing. I'm grateful that you guys are worried about me, but I know what I am doing," I responded.

He took a deep breath and looked me straight in the eye. "My daughter cares about you a lot and if anything were to happen to you I don't think I could live with myself." He said sincerely. I looked at him, surprised he has never shown any slave any emotion he has always been strict. "Sir I promise you that I will be ok. But, I'm surprised that you care so much," I said. He smiled at me and closed his eyes.

"If it wasn't for you my daughter would not be here. I owe you a big debt." He told me as he looked down at me. "Just keep Jazz safe until I can come back for her," I said to him seriously. He nodded at me and started walking down the hallway. I bet if I asked he let me take Jazz with me, but until I know if I can trust the king and the people around him, she is safer here.

As I walked into the room and saw Jazz sitting on the bed writing in one of her notebooks. "Hey," I said as I sat down next to her. "Heard you wanted to talk to me." She said, closing her notebook. I took a deep breath and looked at her seriously. "I have to leave in two days. It turns out I'm the Alpha King's mate," I told her.

Her face went pale white and dropped her jaw. "WHAT!" She eventually yelled. "That was my reaction when he told me," I said to her. "He told you. Can't you feel it?" She asked me. I shook my hand and gave a small but sad smile. "Not as long as I have the mark on me, I can't feel it," I answered. She looked down at her hand and began to cry.

"I'm never going to see you again." She said as she cried into her hands. I pulled her into a tight fast hug. "That's not going to happen. I made a deal with him. Some Alpha kings are able to find another mate sometimes, but he can't reject me till he does. Even if he doesn't, I have agreed to wait the year and to only become his mate if he sets you free." I said, trying not to cry.

She pulled away and looked up at me. " Why do all that for me?" She asked. "Because you're my little sister. Blood or not, I will always be there for you. I will come back for you. This, I promise." I told her with all my heart.

Cyrus

"That girl is going to be a handful," Amon growled with excitement. Amon likes challenging things. He found it fun to see what their limits were. "Don't get too excited, now we don't know if we will find someone else," I told him. "I don't want anyone else, this one is perfect and I bet, her wolf is just as stubborn." He said licking his lips. I laughed at what he was saying because I too was excited about meeting her wolf.

"But what if the people don't want her as Luna because she is part hunter?" I asked him with a questionable tone. "The people don't speak for an Alpha." He growled with force. He was right. The people didn't have a say in who Luna was. But I respect what my people think and want. Amon was just thinking with the wrong head. I wanted to take her too, but before I did, I had to see how she was with the people and who she would put first.

Time skip two days

It was the day we had to leave and I was waiting at the car for her. "She really is taking her sweet time. We should punish her." Amon said with a seductive smile. I watched her walk out with Krista. "I'm going to miss you so much, Esme." She said as she hugged her tightly. "I'm going to miss you too. Promise to write please." She said back to her with a smile. "Don't worry I will every day and you can send the other girls letters to me I'll make sure they get them." She said as she stepped back.

"We have to get going," I said, getting annoyed that this was taking too long. She slid in with the tinny bag she had and looked out the back window waving goodbye. I sat across from her in the other seat. We finally started driving and I felt a pain in my gut seeing her cry as we left.
