Infuriating Dragon

Idalia    “So, how did you find me?” I asked once again with curiosity, wanting an answer. I told Leon not to tell anyone and I was sure Blaze didn’t know who he was or where to find him.     “I just crossed the portal and followed your scent. Piece of cake,” he replied as he leaned against the counter in front of me with a cocky smile on his face, proud of himself while he folded his arms on his chest.     ‘He is handsome and strong, Idalia. He is our mate,’ Thora whispered, full of excitement and pride, and I was afraid she would take over. I have been wanting to keep her inside, and now that he is here, it will be very complicated.     “So you came here to take me back?” I asked, reassuring my thoughts and he nodded, approaching me, but I walked away from his body.     “I’m sorry to bust your bubble, but I am not going back. There is a reason why I left that place and-”    “Was I the reason for you leaving?” he asked firmly, with a hint of curiosity and sadness in his voice, catching me by surprise and I couldn’t say a word. I simply nodded and his face for a moment softened, letting me see how disappointed he was.     We both stood there in awkward silence, and when I finally spoke, all that came out was an offer of food and drink. He surely has a big appetite, being a dragon, so I took out some steaks and seasoned them.    “I haven’t accepted, why are you preparing food?” he asked, curiously and confused. I stopped on my tracks, and put the seasoning down. He was right, I had started preparing them without even asking him. Closing my eyes to take all the thoughts from my mind and gain strength, I turned around to face him. His eyes glowing and making it hard for me to look away.    “I know what you’re thinking. Don’t worry, I will protect you and will make you happy when we go back.” he said with confidence and conviction.    “I am not going anywhere with you. I said it and that is final,” I said, upset, raising my voice a bit while a sudden thunderstorm approached. It was not even in the forecast and I had a thought that I might have caused it.     “Thora, please. Control yourself,” I said, holding my hands very tightly in a fist and taking deep breaths to control my anger and my nervousness. When I opened them, Blaze was already walking towards my living room.     His tall body barely fit through the doorway and I was thinking what it would be like to be in his arms and him leaning down to hug me and kiss me lovingly.     ‘That would be amazing, Idalia. I missed him, even if we hadn’t seen him since his birth day. Let’s go back home, please. I want to be there and feel free,’ Thora said, hopeful and aching, already getting on my nerves, and I wanted to shut her out completely.     Blaze was looking around at some pictures and he would ask me questions about who those people were.    “They’re my friends. At least the very few I have. I am not very social,” I replied, honestly. When he approached the picture with a man hugging me and kissing my cheek, he growled and looked at me, as if asking who he was.    “He is the reason I can’t go back with you, Blaze. I have a life here, a boyfriend, which is the man you see in that picture with me.”    He took the picture and walked towards the window, throwing it out.     “What are you doing?” I asked, upset and shocked.    “I am the only one that can be with you, Idalia. The only one that can make you feel things and that can make you happy,” he said with anger and jealousy, walking towards me in a predatory way. I stood my stance and looked up at him, his tall body not intimidating me in the least.     I folded my arms on my chest and raised my eyebrow, hearing his dragon growl while Thora did the same, trying to control him.     Seeing that I was not budging, he walked away and headed to the kitchen. I followed and saw him try to cook his steaks. He was hissing in pain as the hot oil splattered on him. This man didn’t even know how to cook, I thought not knowing if the whole situation was funny or frustrating.    It was already four in the morning and I had to go to work in another hour, but I wasn’t able to sleep, thanks to him. I took the tongs out of his hands and started putting the steaks in the pan, letting my small apartment permeate with the smell.    “It smells good,” he said as he stood behind me, close enough to my body and I wasn’t sure if he was talking about the steaks or me. Clearing my throat, I stepped away, getting some plates and setting them up on the counter next to the stove.     “How do you like your steak?”    “I don’t know, bloody?” he said, uncertain, more like a question than an actual answer.     I just flipped them quickly, not even a minute on each side and I served it on a plate for him. While he ate, I prepared a blanket and put it on the couch so he could lay in it. He wouldn’t not be returning now, so might as well get him comfortable.     “What are you doing?” he asked, curiously, making me jump in surprise.    “Holy mother of all cakes, you scared me. I am preparing the couch so you can sleep in it. You must be tired after taking that trip here,” I replied, trying to settle my hammering heart as I walked towards the closet and grabbed a couple of pillows before I came back to the couch and put them there.    “Now, you can rest and I will get ready for work.” I stated.    “We have to go, Idalia. There is no time to waste,” he said, frustrated and hopelessly.     “There is nothing waiting for me there, and I really don’t want to go back.” I assured.     ‘I do! I am tired of being stuck inside your body with no freedom in this stinking world. Let’s go back home and let’s be free,’ Thora said with ache and I was getting upset.    “You better listen to your gargoyle, Idalia.” he pleaded.    Did he just hear her talk? I thought, surprised. I shook my head and decided to ignore them both as I headed to my room and got ready for work.     A quick shower is all I needed.    When I came out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped in my slim body, Blaze was standing there with the fire in his eyes, looking up and down at me just as I could hear him growl, making me shiver at the attention.    “What are you doing in my room? I set up the couch so please, get out,” I ordered, frustrated and I was glad he did as I said, but not before he gave me a smile and a wink on his way out.    I needed him out of here and back in Gargodom as soon as possible, I thought with a desperate sensation.
