Chapter Eighteen

Quinten's POV

Crystal was so nervous. I stopped walking, took Crystal's hands in mine, looked directly into her eyes, and said, "You are going to be fine. My parents love you because I do. They just want to get to know you as a person, my angel. Just be yourself."

"This is so nerve raking my prince. I just have to remember that they are normal parents and that they are not the king and queen."

"They just want to get to know the person that has stolen their son’s heart. They will not act like royalty in front of you. Like they said you are part of this family now."

I watched Crystal take a deep breath and then say, "I am ready now. Just promise that you will not leave my side."

"I promise, my angel."

Crystal's POV

Quinten was trying to placate my nerves but, I was just so nervous. They were the king and queen of all the vampires. What if they did not like me? What if they did not approve of me? I wish Stephanie were here with me. This would be so much better if Stephanie were here. I miss Stephanie so much and it is killing me not to go after her but, I trusted that Quinten knew what he was doing. I knew that Quinten wanted me well trained so that I could defend myself and attack people but, I wanted to go after Stephanie. I was excited to hear what Nicholas had to say about this whole situation. As we approached Vanessa and Nicholas I smiled warmly.

Vanessa said, "This color purple makes your eyes look purple. It is very becoming."

"I have you to thank for the wonderful gown choice but, thank you for the compliment. I like your dress as well, Vanessa."

"Thank you, Crystal. Nicholas was telling me that you have made some new acquaintances this evening." Vanessa said with a warm smile.

"I did make some new acquaintances Vanessa. Clarisse introduced me to her friends. We have made plans for tonight and Thursday."

"I am glad to see you have made some friends. Now tell us about yourself." Nicholas said with a smile.

"I am an art major. My favorite type of art is drawing and painting. I am a junior and I am going to try to get into Delta Epsilon Beta Tau next semester."

"That is wonderful Crystal. I think that you will find several things that will inspire your art while we are here in Greece." Nicholas asked, "Do you have any other hobbies?"

"I would have to say that my other hobby is reading."

Vanessa smiled and said, "You and I have something in common then. I read a lot as well." I smile widely as Vanessa continues, "How would like to come with me tomorrow evening? I have a tour set up tomorrow of some of the libraries."

"That would be great," I say with a soft smile. I continued to talk to Nicholas and Vanessa as if I was talking to someone I was getting to know. Quinten was right they did not act like royalty when I was with them. They asked a lot of questions which I was happy to answer.

Nicholas's POV

Crystal was very open and honest. Crystal was going to be a wonderful leader. I could tell that Crystal was still thinking about Stephanie. I pulled Quinten aside and said softly, "I think that we should wait to tell Crystal about Stephanie until we are heading back home. That way Crystal can enjoy her time here. I do not want Crystal to be overly worried."

"I think that Crystal is going to worry whether we tell her now or later. I will talk to Crystal tomorrow and tell her what you have said, father. I would just ask that if Crystal wants to know the information that we have that you please tell her. Crystal has been through so much already. I do not want to keep Crystal in the dark for much longer. Before we left I promised that we would be discussing Stephanie's situation soon."

"I think that we need to have a meeting with your friends and the guards before we talk to Crystal. I am just not sure what we are going to do about this situation. I need to hear some options on what we can do." I say with a frown.

"Father we will figure this out together. We could meet Thursday since Crystal will be preoccupied."

"Perfect. Crystal is going to be a fine leader. I also think that you and I need to discuss some things."

"As you wish father."

"We will meet tomorrow while your mother and Crystal tour the libraries." Quinten nods and we rejoin Crystal and Vanessa. The rest of the evening goes by so quickly. I watched as Quinten and Crystal left to change for their evening out. I had decided to give Quinten and Crystal an extra year of school together. I wanted Crystal to get her degree but, also take classes in leadership. I also needed to make sure that Quinten and Crystal understood that after Christmas that they were probably going to be hounded by people. Once it got out that the crowned Prince of the vampires had found his mate the press was going to have a field day. Also, the campus was probably going to get a bit crazy.

Quinten's POV

I was not sure how to feel about the fact that my father needed to talk to me. I was worried that my father was not going to step down at the end of the year. I just could not shake the fact that my father had looked so serious. With my father not knowing how he wanted to handle the Stephanie situation was worrisome but, there must be a reason why he did not know what to do. I would talk to Lucas, Michael, and Brody about this tonight. I needed them to think of some viable options to present.

Crystal's POV

I watched as several different emotions crossed across Quinten's face. Quinten was thinking about something but, he had not shared what he was thinking with me yet. I asked, "Quinten, my love, is everything okay?"

"No my angel everything is not okay. My father does not know how to handle getting Stephanie back. My father also wants to speak with me, which I am not sure, how to take."

"I can understand Nicholas not knowing what to do my prince. Your father has to figure out if he wants to hurt his son. Nicholas and Vanessa still love Zander even if Zander is trying to take the throne away from them. Your father does not want to cause your brother to hate him or your mother further. I am sure that whatever your father wants to speak to you about is nothing for you to worry about."

"I am sure that you are right about how my father feels. I think that what my father wants to talk about is something for me to worry about."

"You cannot worry about this until you know what Nicholas wants to speak with you about. I am going to suggest that you just enjoy your night out with Lucas, Michael, and Brody. Then, worry about what your father wants to talk about when the time comes. You are going to go grey if you do not take a deep breath and relax."

Quinten chuckles and says, "Thank you, angel. I needed that."

"Anytime my prince." I kiss Quinten's cheek before leaving the room and say, "Have a good time. I will see you in a few hours." I meet Clarisse in the lobby with her friends. We leave to go to a jazz club that they had mentioned. I hope that Quinten can enjoy his night out. I do not want Quinten to be feeling this way while we were on vacation. It would not bode well for anyone if Quinten continues to be so stressed. Our time away from school, Zander and everything else was supposed to be that; time away from everything. I wanted both us to be able to relax and be able to enjoy ourselves to the fullest extent. I took a deep breath before walking up to Clarisse and her friends pulling my mind out of my reverie.
