A nightmare

NORA'S POV

Finally, I was able to sleep. Antonio wrapped me up in his arms as we both lay in bed. He was his ever sweet loving self again. I've missed having to sleep with him by my side.

"I've missed you babe". I said as I squeezed myself more in his hands.

"I've missed you more. Finally, we are able to have a night to ourselves". He said smiling widely at me.

We cuddled for a while and soon, we drifted off into a sound sleep. I felt safe once again in his arms. I was finally able to sleep without having thoughts of ifs and buts. We didn't know it was morning until Christabel came knocking on the door. Maligro needed me. I dashed out to attend to him. I picked him up and made sure he was satisfied before I took him in for a warm bath. My baby loves to play with the bubbles as he took his bathe. He was a lovely little boy. Always smiling and playing around. Except of course, he's ready to sleep or eat. Every baby does that. He was growing fast. I was happy to watch him grow. Soon, he'll be a year old. I watched my baby as he played with the bubbles as I bathe for him. Soon, I was lost in thoughts. I wondered how he had coped with Cisco. He had never left our side of once only when we had to go for our dates. And most times, he comes with us for the dates. I blamed myself for putting him in such a mess. I was lost in thoughts that I didn't know when Antonio entered into the bathroom.

"What is taking you so long?" Antonio asked disrupting my thoughts as he entered.

"Well, I was just wondering how big and fast my son is growing. Can't you see, he'll be a year old soon". I said as I blinked back the tears threatening to fall from my eyes.

"Don't you want him to grow?" Antonio asked looking at me surprised.

"Not that, just that I could remember the day I gave birth to him. He's growing so fast". I said with an emotional tone. "It's good to see him grow, just that it's so fast."

"Chris is waiting to at least meet with us before he leaves." Antonio said. "I'll be in the room waiting. I also need to take my bathe. Be fast about it ". He said and left the bathroom.

As soon as he left, I finished up with Maligro, took him to the room and returned for my own shower. I rushed to have a bath so my husband could have his. In minutes, we were done and ready to head for the living room. By the time we got downstairs, Christabel had set the table and prepared breakfast. She made pancakes with honey and fruit juice as supplement. We all sat down for a family meal. We were finally able to eat without brooding over whatever had happened a night before. We had a quiet meal. After we were done, we said our goodbyes to Chris as my husband escorted him out of the house.

I sat at home all day with Christabel and Maligro. I chitchatted with Christabel to keep away from boredom.

"Nora, who is Chris to you guys.?" Christabel asked as Antonio and Chris left the house.

"Well, I'll say he's more like a family friend. He spent a month with us and he therefore became a family. He has helped us multiple times when we needed him to. And he's a very good and nice person". I replied as best as I can giving her the best explanation.

"And what made him stay over at your place?" She asked again.

"I really can't say why, I was only told that he had certain issues and that his family was missing. He stayed over to be able to find them at least." That was the only way I could explain to her. "You can ask Antonio if you want to know anything about the reason for his stay". I told her.

"And has he found his family?" She asked further.

"Yes, he has. He said he met his wife at the store when he went to get some groceries for the house. And his wife came over to our house and they both left". I gave the best of replies I could give to every other questions she asked. Then she volunteered to make lunch.

"You have to go home too, soon. Before mum and dad starts calling. I'm sure they need you at home too". I said to Christabel as she manned the kitchen.

"Seems you're chasing me back home". She said glancing back at me "Are you tired of my stay?"

"Not that, you're really helping me out alot here, and I really do appreciate it. But mum and dad needs you more. I have Antonio to help whenever I need help". I explained my reasons to her

"I was thinking of going home too. But I want my face to heal up first to avoid much talks when I get home. I'll call them to inform them that I will be staying longer at your house. At least they know I'm in a safe place". Christabel said not giving in to my reasons.

"If you say so ma'am". I replied smiling.

Soon, lunch was ready and we both settled down to eat. We didn't take much time eating, soon we were done. We both cleared the dishes and sat down to watch the TV.

Just then, we heard a knock on the door. It wasn't the usual familiar knock I know, so I kept mute and stared at the door. If it was the house keeper, he knows the code to open the door. If there's no answer to the knocker at the door, he or she will definitely leave. I thought to myself.

I was starting to shiver as I sat with Christabel. Has Cisco found us again, I thought to myself as shivers went down my spine.

Just then, my fear reduced when the house keeper came in. He decided to knock first before he came in. He wanted to be sure someone was home first.

"Oh, hello ma. I didn't know you were home. Since I didn't get an answer when I knocked, I decided to open the door." He explained.

"It's fine. We decided to take safety precautions". I said. He came over with supplies again and to clean the house.

We gave him the space, and soon he was done with the house cleaning.

"I'll be going now ma. I'm done with the chores". He said as he adjusted himself ready to leave.

"Yes, that's fine. Thanks for coming". I said as I took out my purse to give him a token.

"Thank you so much ma". He said as he collected the money, bowed and left.

"Please lock the door again as you leave." I said, and he replied with a nod as he shut the door behind him. Again it was remaining just Christabel, Maligro and I in the house.

"How do you plan to celebrate Maligro's first year birthday?" Christabel asked as she played with Maligro.

"Well, I haven't made plans yet, but I should soon. It's his first birthday and we have to make it super fun and memorable". I said "I really should start making preparations."

"What do you want his birthday to be like?" Christabel asked. "We can start from there if we want to make preparations." She concluded as she looked up at me with her big round eyes.

"I guess we will be calling most of family members and friends...we can make it a parlour party since there no much of his friends that we can invite. It's also his first. Let's just make it a family and friend thing". I said.

"That's right, we can make it elaborate in our own way". Christabel agreed with my decision. Soon, it was evening and we started preparing dinner.

As we prepared dinner, the door to the house opened. Antonio decided not to knock since the door was opened by code either from the inside or outside. He walked to the kitchen where Christabel and I were busy making dinner and chitchatting. We really didn't notice his presence until he spoke out.

"Whatever you're cooking smells nice". He said to announce his presence in the kitchen.

"Oh thank you. I bet it will be delicious too". Christabel said smiling back at him.

"Welcome home babe. How was today?" I asked as I left what I was doing to attend to him.

"Today was a bit stressful, but we came to the end of it". He replied as he heaved a deep sigh of relief." How did you guys do at home?" He asked

"We only had to watch tv and keep ourselves busy chitchatting. Also, the house keeper came over for the house cleaning".

"Well that's nice. I'll go freshen up and come down". He said as he headed for the room.

Soon, dinner was ready.
