We were just about to have lunch when Nathan called that he was outside. I excused myself to pick him.
I later returned to the table with Nathan.
“Nathan, meet my triplets and Adrian. Boys, this is Nathan, my fiancé and your soon-to-be stepdad.” I said and Nathan wrapped his hand around my waist.
Adrian was surprised and a flick of anger was in his eyes as he looked at Nathan’s hand. The boys looked at Nathan and said nothing. Nathan smiled at them and extended his hand out to Adrian, who looked at it angrily before accepting it.
I was scared Nathan would notice the resemblance between the boys and Adrian but he did not say anything about it.
The table was quiet even after Nathan tried to make conversations with the boys, they ignored him and ate their food in silence.
