Willow stared at him, waiting for the rest of the sentence, the part that would make that make sense. But it didn't come.
"See us together? They already know," she said. "You announced it. In front of half my customers."
"They heard it. That's not the same as seeing it." Ronan's voice stayed level, totally undisturbed by the way her jaw had tightened. "If people are going to believe this is real, they need to see us behave like it. Not just hear a rumor about it."
"I don't want my personal life turned into the town's premium evening entertainment."
"This isn't about giving them something to gossip over." He held her gaze. "It's about making Nathaniel believe the protection around you is real. If he thinks I only said what I said to scare him off, he'll keep working around it."
