Miss Campus

Alicia's PoV

I stayed at home for three days as the doctor instructed. Nana Fe made a call to the dean of our school and told him what happened. Although, I'm pretty sure the dean already knew about it.

It's Friday now and I can still feel the burning pain of my skin like it only happened yesterday.

Thankfully, the ointment reall do its job. It didn't let my skin to have the memory of that incident.

As I walked towards the campus, most of the students are already staring at me. As usual, they're murmuring something with each other. Probably about me and what happened three days ago. I just shrugged as I passed them by.

"Alicia!" I heard Camille calling me from a far.

She run towards me and I could see how worried she is.

"How are you?" she asked.

I can't help myself but to smile. I never had someone like this and I never experience something like this. To have someone who'll worry when something happened to you.

"I'm fine now," I replied while still smiling.

"You look like you're not."

I looked at her puzzled. "What do you mean?"

"Why are you smiling?"

"Because I'm happy?" I asked with sarcasm.

"Yeah, you are. Talk to the stone!" She laughed.

I noticed Gabreil walking to our direction. Unlike Camille, he looks calm but curious.

"Yo! What's up?" Gabreil asked.

"Good?" I answered.

"Are you allowed to go to the school now?" he asked again.

"Yeah. The doctor said I need to rest for three days only," I replied.

"That's great. Because our man is having trouble not seeing you around." He then laughed hard.

"Huh?" I looked at him confused.

"Don't mind him, Alicia. It's just that, our dear friend out there seems not functioning when you're not around." Camille burst laughing as well.

I just shook my head. I don't get them.

"Are you talking about me?" Alvin suddenly appeared behind Gabreil.

"No, Mr. President missing Miss Nobody 2.0." Camille continue laughing with Gabreil.

Alvin walked passed them and towards me. I stand still when he stood in front of me. Directly staring at my eyes.

I can't think properly. Should I look away? Or move a little far from him? Maybe run?

I heared him clear his throat. "How are you?" His voice is as soft as my hair.

He's worried about me?

"Uhm, I'm good?"

He was about to speak again when the bell rang.

"I need to go. See you later," I mumbled then waved the goodbye.

I started running like other stundents do. I don't want to be late again.

Thankfully, I managed to enter our classroom in time before the professor came. She quickly began her lesson.

I could feel the stares of my classmates but I tried to focus to our professor. I should be used to this kind of environment by now.

"Okay, class. Have you already decided who will joing the pageant?" the professor suddenly asked.

"Not yes, Ma'am. I believed our level will be having a try out," one of our classmate answered.

"I see." The professor nod.

I totally forgot about the program. It will start tomorrow and will end on Friday, next week.

I healed on time, I can go and spend a few days at the event. It should be fun, not unless some students destroy my expience.

I am well aware of what happened to Janina. I should be ready because sooner or later she'll appear right in front of me. I know she's not the type of person who'll let this kind of situation slide. Especially, she's been targeting me for a while.

I didn't noticed that the class was over. I quickly went outside to go to my next class.

I saw some stundents running towards the gymnasium. I wonder why? Maybe there's something going on there. Suddenly, a voice echoed in the hall.

"ANNOUNCEMENT EVERYON. INTERESTED STUDENT TO JOIN MR. AND MS. CAMPUS, PLEASE GO TO THE GYMNASIUM NOW."

I went a few more times before the speaker went off.

Since a lot of students are going there, maybe I could watch a little?

I started walking towards the gymnasium as well. I could hear the clapping and a little chitchat just outside the gym.

I stood at the entrance, suddenly thinking if I should go inside or not.

"Are you going in?" someone behind me asked.

I quickly turned around to see who was it. It's Alvin.

"I'm not sure," I murmured.

"Let's go. It'll be fun." Alvin smiled that makes me looked away.

I followed him when he entered the gymnasium. Some students looked at us, following us. It bother me to hell!

"Just stay beside me," Alvin stated. He's now looking at me.

I nodded my head in response. I couldn't form a word to reply.

"Look who's here. Are interested to join as well?" Janina laugh while staring at me from head to toe. "Try your best!" she added.

A few students heard what she said and started laughing.

"Not today, Janina," Alvin said trying to stop Janina.

"What now, Alvin? I'm just asking her nicely." Janina pointed at me.

"Why don't you join the pageant and let me defeat you effortlessly," Janina stated.

I raised an eyebrow at her. I'm surprised.

"Do you know that you need brain to join a pageant as well?" I sarcastically asked.

I heard more laughs from the crowd. I smirked in satisfaction.

Janina was about to slap me when Alvin pulled me and hid me at his back.

"Lay your hands on her again and I will make sure that this is your last day in this campus," Alvin uttered.

My heart started to beat fast. I suddenly felt shy and embarassed. Why is he acting like this? It makes my heart crazy! Especially, there's a lot of student around us. For sure they heard what he just said.

"We're not done yet!" Janina exclaimed then walked away.

I let a deep sigh of relief. I thought she'll never leave.

The crowd went wild when Camille walked in that middle of the stage. Seems like they're calling all the interested candidates.

They all looks pretty, including Janina. I can't deny that fact.

"And the last candidate is, Miss Alicia Valenzia!"

Silence suddenly covered the gymnasium. Did I heard is right? Me? Candidate? I looked around puzzled. I just went here to watch, not because I want to join!

I noticed Janina near the stage. She's looking at me with a smirk on her face.

I think I knew what happened. Janina wrote my name sa candidate!

Someone just pushed me from behind. Followed by students who's pulling me. I can't do anything but to walk towards the stage.

I don't know what to do!

Someone approached me and guided me. She's whispering some instructions while where walking.

"Once again, Miss Alicia Valenzia!"

As instructed, I walked towards the middle of the stage and made a pose. Then went to the left side and pose.

I don't know what I'm doing. But, I'm pretty sure, it is embarassing!

All the candidates started to walked as well. Making a line in front of the stage. I saw Camille giggling and raising both of her hands.

"That complete our candidates for Miss Campus!"

Wait, I'm one of the candidates?

For real?
