Mariah's POV "Mariah..." "Jess, don't start." "Mariah..." She continued. "You do realize what just happened right?" Jess was smiling bright with the crazy look in her eye. I didn't like that look on her so I only shook my head. "Scorpio just made you his girl." Cue the choking of the milkshake. "What? You're crazy. Now you just sound like a lunatic." I rolled my eyes at her silly comment. Jess widened her eyes at me and grabbed my hand. "I'm not crazy. He just spoke to you. In public." Okay, and so? "Not only that but he called you sexy. In public. And he wiped your milkshake off your chin. And then proceeded to suck it off. In PUBLIC." "Oh my gosh. What's the big deal with the public?" Honestly, this girl confuses me sometimes. "You know Scorpio. He doesn't hang out with anyone except for his girlfriend." "And another thing! He's got a girlfriend. Therefore he cannot make me his girl." Triumphantly, I sat back in my chair, finishing off my milkshake. "They broke up, you dumb b***h! You just landed Scorpio Hall!" No, no, no, no, no. That can't be. Nope. Not happening. I wouldn't want to be his girlfriend. I mean, maybe last year but now... not so much. Gosh, this isn't good. "Let's just go pay and go to school." We both stood at the same time, paid at the cash register and Jess wouldn't shut up about how my life would be good even though she was leaving. "Shut up." "You love me." That I do. We walked into the lecture theatre to find it empty. All except for one person. "Hey, beautiful." I let out a tiny squeak as I sat far away from Scorpio. No way am I getting near him after Milky Lane. "Come on. Why are you so far from me? I promise I don't bite." Really? "Hard." Oh, gosh. "When I'm not turned on." With a smile, he finished his not so convincing statement. I'm not getting anywhere near this beautiful bad boy now. "Please." He pouted his lips, giving me puppy dog eyes. As if that will work on me. "Hey, Scorpio!" Jess interrupted his coaxing. Thank you for best friends. "I heard you were 24." He looked at her with a dead expression. "Yeah." "If you're 24, why are you in the 2nd Year Class of Psychology. Did you fail more than once or were you held back just a few years in high school?" She smirked. She shouldn't have felt so triumphant because what Scorpio said next even surprised me. "For your information, I graduated 2 years ago with my Law degree. I started psychology because I like knowing how the mind works— What makes you tick," He looked at me. "What makes you uncomfortable." Jess. "How responsive you are..." Dark eyes drifted to me again. "You're very responsive." Shrinking in my seat, I pulled on a braid and started playing with it. My phone buzzed in my book bag so I took it out. It was an iMessage from Jess. What the f***! You are drinking up all his attention, aren't you? No, I am not! He just won't quit talking to me. Sure, okay. Like you're not enjoying it. I'm not. Here's a trampoline, since you like jumping to conclusions so much. "You wanna find out how I know?" I jumped in my seat, startled by the deep voice in my ear. My phone slipped out of my hands and I mentally screamed in the fear of the c***k of the screen. But I didn't hear anything. Because Scorpio freaking caught the phone before it landed on the ground. "Nice reflexes." My tone was timid. "You should be more careful." My breath caught in my throat when I felt teeth graze my ear. I abruptly stood up and was already grabbing Jessica's wrist to go outside but was stopped by the rest of the students entering the theatre along with our professor behind. "Good Morning, class. I am your professor for the year, Dr. Henri Christopher. This course is not a joke and I swear, if any of you fool around during the lesson, you're out. Now to start..." Class ended sooner than I expected and I hadn't learnt anything with Scorpio being a fly in my ear. "Stop it." I hissed as I stormed out the lecture theatre. Once outside, I was pulled back by my wrist and slammed against the wall. "Don't manhandle me." Growling out, I tried to free from the strong hands that held me in place. "No, no, no." He cooed. "You're not going anywhere. You're coming with me." A small crowd had gathered, watching us. "Stop looking so scared. I'm not going to choke you." He smirked. "At least, not yet." I gasped loudly at him, shocked by his crude words. "How could you say something like that? Especially in public." I whispered. "Can you let me go?" Still wouldn't budge. "Please, Scorpio." He let me go, finally, yet he didn't step back. I gave him a murderous look and crossed my arms. "What?" "May you please move a bit?" "Nah, you're small enough to move out." "Fine." Like an immature brat, I shoved his shoulder with mine—more like tried. He's so much taller than me. It did result in him stumbling back a bit which gave me a little joy. "Bye." The crowd parted like the Red Sea, making me give them a confused, weirded out look. As I walked passed them to get to Anthropology, they gave me dumbstruck looks. Okay? Halfway to the next class, Jess caught up to me, breathing heavily, staring wide-eyed at me. "You're so unfit, Jessy." I laughed as I waited for her to catch her breath. She gleamed at me as we continued to walk to our destination. "What?" "Don't act like you don't know what." She raised an eyebrow at me. "I heard about the little show you and Scorpio gave to the whole school. All I've got to say is... I'm so proud of you." She wiped an imaginary tear from the corner of her eye. "You're acting like a parent. " I rolled my eyes at my best friend's craziness and entered the Anthropology classroom. "Morning Professor McKenna." "Morning Mariah." She beamed at me. Professor McKenna was my favourite professor in this university. Maybe it's because she was still so young and could relate to our problems. Maybe it was the way she always kept things interesting. Or maybe it's because she always knew what was going on in the students's lives at school. "I heard what just happened. I did not expect you with Scorpio but I've got to say, it works." Chuckling, Jess and I went to her desk. "Professor McKenna, I don't know how you knew about that so fast but Scorpio and I are not a thing." "She's lying." Jess quipped in. Professor McKenna smirked at me before shaking her head. "Mariah, you should know that you kids post about everything that happens in a second and from the pictures, one would think you and Scorpio were on 3rd base already." Gobsmacked, I put my book bag down and replied to her. "Professor McKenna, I swear, never would I do anything like that until marriage. And especially not with Scorpio. Jess is stupid and thinks that Scorpio is into me." "He is!" She whined. "But he isn't!" I whined back Professor McKenna put her hand on my shoulder and gave me a pitiful look. "If that's what you think, I wish you good luck and I hope the Lord blesses your soul. Scorpio Hall is the most possessive, bad-tempered boy I have ever met and if he wants you, he's gonna get you." You're probably wondering, why does a professor have such a close relationship to two students that she can talk about these things with them? Well, she's my cousin. And she's my favourite cousin ever. My mother's sister's child. "I heard my name." Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Scorpio stood at the doorway, leaning on the wall with his arm while staring at me. "Hey, beautiful." I shrunk in my position, embarrassed, and went to my seat. "Scorpio, leave." Thank you, cousin for saving me from utter mortification. "Bye." And she slammed the door in his face. "Why is he bothering you, anyway?" Okay, time to come clean. "He received one of my love letters." I blurted out. "What?!" Jess and China(Professor McKenna) both said together. "Yeah." I'm so embarrassed. "You write love letters?!" Jess seemed thoroughly shocked and China was on the verge of cracking up. "Who does that?!" Pouting, I said, "I do! Leave me alone okay." And they did. Class went by quickly, which was disappointing but it was enjoyable. All that was left was to go back to my room and chill. "Where are you going?" "Lord Jesus! You scared me." I was on my way to walking across the field but he scared me. "You're welcome." "What do you want from me, Scorpio?" He came closer and trailed his thumb along my jawline. What was he doing? "All I want is your love and affection." Ugh. I broke from his trap and started storming towards the BE. "Wait! Come back!" I heard him chasing after me and sped up my pace. What would it take for him to leave me alone? "Stop it!" "Stop what?" He asked, feigning innocence. It was so unusual. Something in my brain snapped and I decided to give him a piece of my mind. "This! Stop playing with me. What is this? What are you doing? Stop being random. Stop being flirty and sexy. Just stop being so mysterious and s*x-on-legs." Okay. Maybe that wasn't what I wanted to come out but it did. With a squeal, I turned and ran for the entrance to the block. Luckily, my room was on the second floor therefore it was easy to run up the stairs. I hurriedly unlocked my room and burst into it and slamming the door behind me. A heavy sigh escaped me as I took off my shoes and jacket, plopping on my bed. When did my life start spiralling out of control? Why did I have to write a love letter? And how the heck did it get sent out? I need some music. Turning to the pink Beats Pill, I connected my iPhone to it and pressed shuffle on SHAREIt. I love how Apple thinks that I'm gonna pay for my music. Dancing was the only way I could escape life so when Wiggle started playing, I freestyled until I did the Matt Steffanina choreography. I hadn't done it in forever so I was still a bit rusty. More music flowed through the loud speaker and I lost myself in the beat, the bass and the words. "When I see that ooh... I just might Why is it so wrong if it feels right! I swear I got no filter! (I wanna eat that *****!) No filter! I swear I got no filter! No filter! I'm out of ***** to give! Got no filter! No filter! I'm out of ***** to give! No filter!" "Impressive!" Scorpio's voice stopped my screeching and I drowned in my humiliation. "Who let you in?" "Jess gave me her key." Remind me to kill her later. "I came to hang out." "Hang out? Aren't you gonna apologize?" I inquired. I think I deserve an apology. He gave me a look and proceeded to speak. "No! Why would I apologize? I'm not sorry. I mean everything I do and I don't go back." "Oh... okay. Then um...let's...hang out?" That sounded more like a question.
