Alex had left later that day, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I danced and sang as I worked to tidy my home; something had shifted enough to make me incredibly happy. It was then I remembered to go and unblock Alex; it was hard to have a relationship if you couldn’t talk to each other. ALICE: Let me know when you get home. I sent the message, smiled, and then returned to my cleaning. As I loaded the sheets into the washing machine, I couldn’t help but smile. I was happier in that moment than I’d been in a while. That was odd to me; even though Alex wasn’t here, I knew he was there. I could call, and he’d answer. For the first time since we were living together, I was confident in us, that we would work out. Even with the distance thing, Alex and I would find a way to make things work.
