Chapter Four

Leo's POV: “Freak.” She blurted out. I almost laughed, but I didn’t. Instead, I watched her stomp toward the bathroom, clutching the blanket tightly and slamming the door behind her. A lesser man might've been offended. Me? I smirked. Still shirtless, I got up from the bed and stretched out my arms. There was a bite mark on my shoulder. Her bite. ‘Feisty little rogue.’ I muttered under my breath as I grabbed my clothes off the armchair, got dressed in silence, picked up my phone from the nightstand, and slipped out of the room before she came back with some makeshift weapon or another insult. The hallways of the Packhouse were already buzzing. Guards bowed their heads. Maids offered tight-lipped smiles. Everyone pretended not to be curious. Bloodhound Pack was disciplined like that. But I saw the way their eyes flickered. “Good Morning, Alpha.” A young scout greeted. “Good morning.” I replied smoothly, making my way to my private chambers. Once inside, I shut the door behind me and let out a short breath. Flora. Damn, she was something. I texted Cassian: “I’ll be at the training grounds in fifteen minutes.” Tossing my phone aside, I stripped, jumped in for a cold shower to clear my head, and changed into black cargo joggers, combat boots, and a tight-fitted training shirt. When I was done, I headed down. By the time I arrived, the sun was higher, and my Beta, Cassian, was barking commands at the guards that were lined up before him. Cassian spotted me and jogged over, sweat already glistening on his forehead. “So? Are you gonna tell me who you brought into the Packhouse last night?” He asked, tossing a spear to one of the warriors. "Saw her in your wing last night. Is she yours?" I glanced around. The guards were within earshot but not paying attention. “She's Valen’s ex.” Cassian blinked. “Seriously?” I nodded once. “Damn. Did she finally come to an agreement with you or…?” He asked. I shook my head. “Not yet.” “Then what the hell were you two doing last night?” His brows lifted suggestively. Before I could answer, a voice tore through the training grounds. It was loud and filled with anger. “Leo!” I turned around slowly, to see Flora storming into the center of the grounds like she owned the place. Clutching the front of the robe she wore, while her hair was a mess, and her eyes blazed. Cassian stepped in front of me like I needed protection. “Who the hell are you to speak to the Alpha like that?” “Your Alpha is a stalker.” She snapped. “And a damn molester!” The entire training ground fell silent. A few guards looked at me, others exchanged glances like they weren’t sure whether to draw their weapons or laugh. “Enough,” I growled. I crossed the distance in seconds and grabbed her wrist—not hard, just enough to remind her whose house she was in—and started dragging her back toward the Packhouse. “Let go!” She snapped, yanking against my grip. “Don’t you dare touch me again!” “Then stop yelling s**t that’ll get you thrown in the dungeon.” I growled, dragging her through the hallways, up the stairs. She yanked and tugged and cursed, but I didn’t stop until we reached my study. I shoved the door open, pulled her inside, and slammed it shut behind me. “Who the hell are you?” She demanded. “What kind of sick game is this? You follow me from the club, sleep with me, bring me here without telling me anything, and then act like you're some savior?” I leaned against the desk, arms crossed. “I didn’t hide anything,” I said calmly. “You didn’t ask.” She chuckled. “Oh, that’s rich. You’re just full of surprises, aren’t you?” Sighing, I asked. “What do you want to know?” “Everything!” She responded. “Why you are so fixated on me, why you want revenge on Valen, and what he did to you.” “Valen and I grew up together like brothers. Until he got scared of me and decided to frame me for murder and then his father proceeded to banish me without investigation.” Her expression shifted slightly. “I spent years rebuilding everything from nothing. Bloodhound is mine now. And Valen? He’s still out there playing king.” “And you want revenge?” She asked coldly. “I deserve revenge,” I replied. “And you? You deserve the same thing.” “I still don't trust you.” She hugged the robe tighter, stepping back. “How was I coincidentally saved by your scout? Everything seems planned.” I hesitated. “It was truly a coincidence.” She raised a brow. “I had a spy planted in the Midnight Pack. To watch the patrol movements in order to perfect my plan for a strike. But instead of information, he came back with you.” She exhaled. “And now what? You think I owe you?” “No,” I said. I walked to the drawer of my desk and pulled out an envelope. “I think you’re smarter than that.” I laid it out on the desk in front of her. “An invitation.” I said. “Valen is crowning Bailey as Luna. She frowned. “What’s your point?” “Marry me.” I said. She laughed. “I know that you still love him, but he doesn’t love you.” I added. “He replaced you like you were nothing.” “Marry me,” I said. “Walk into that ceremony beside me. Let’s make them choke on your glow-up.” “I…” She began, then paused. I handed her a second envelope. “This is the contract. If you sign it, we’re bound temporarily. Until we help each other win. Then, when we’re both done chasing our dreams, we'll get a divorce.” She stared at the contract like it was poison. “Why me?” “Because I can't get my hands on Midnight Pack's map, but you can help me with the information I need to take him down smoothly.” She said nothing. “Think about it,” I added. “I won’t rush you.” With that, I left the folder on the desk and walked out. Cassian was waiting outside, pacing like an anxious hound. The moment he saw me, he marched forward. “What the hell was that?” He demanded. “She’s... unique.” I said. He scoffed. “ “You can’t be serious.” “About?” “That woman. Whatever the reason is, you shouldn't be tolerating someone like her.” I smiled faintly. “She’s my mate, Cassian.” He froze. “What?” “I knew the moment she was brought in. But for some unknown reason, she didn’t feel the bond, so I didn't bring it up?” “So what are you gonna do?” He asked, voice low. “Use her to bring Valen down.” I said. “And then never let her go.” Cassian exhaled slowly. “You really think that’s gonna work?” “She belongs to me.” I said, eyes drifting back to the door she was behind. “She just doesn’t know it yet.”
