"You call yourself a Beta, yet dare to overstep your bounds and command me, Luna?"
My voice was not loud, yet every word was clear.
"I am the mistress of this house, yet you show me no trust, and I must stand by and watch you lord it over Alpha's estate!"
"Were Alpha Aaron still alive, to learn how you've treated his mate and offspring with such contempt—how could he rest in peace?!"
The barrage of questions left Alpha Aaron speechless.
He likely never imagined that I, usually so gentle and composed, could be so relentlessly confrontational.
At that moment, a servant tending to the flowers approached timidly.
"I... I can testify that it was indeed Master Tiger who bullied Master Leo just now!"
"Look at the footprint marks on Master Leo's hand, and the mud from Master Tiger's hands is smeared all over that model spaceship."
Hearing this, Tiger shifted his hands nervously behind his back.
Alpha Aaron's brow furrowed even deeper.
Just as he reached out to check on Leo, Serena began sobbing again beside him.
"It seems Luna can no longer tolerate us. I shall take Tiger away at once. Even if we are killed by Rogue out there, we shall never trouble you again!"
With that, she took Tiger by the hand and began walking towards the exit, her retreat appearing resolute.
A flash of anguish crossed Alpha Aaron's eyes as he hurried forward to block their path.
"Serena, don't do this..." he murmured soothingly.
Then, raising his voice as if deliberately addressing me, he declared:
"Alpha Aaron and I were sworn brothers. Before his death, he entrusted me to protect his family. Now, I certainly won't desert them in their hour of need!"
He cast himself as a paragon of loyalty and honour.
Yet to my ears, these words rang hollow, utterly laughable and ironic.
"Luna is not unreasonable, and besides, to truly expel the three of us, the old lady's consent would be required!"
Alpha Aaron's words once again provoked a bitter laugh from me.
First, he crowned me with the title of "reasonable," implying I shouldn't even consider expelling Serena, then he brought the old lady into it to pressure me.
Just how many tricks did he have up his sleeve that he hadn't yet deployed against me?
Serena, cradled in Alpha Aaron's arms, buried her face against his chest, her expression radiating unmistakable happiness and pride.
"You're so kind. I knew you wouldn't let me suffer injustice."
"That goes without saying..."
Alpha Aaron gazed at her with indulgent affection, even a hint of smug satisfaction.
Watching this man who once vowed to walk beside me for life, now openly embracing another woman in blissful happiness right before my eyes.
My stomach churned violently, and I gagged several times, nearly vomiting.
"Mother, why is she retching like you? Could she be expecting too?"
Tiger suddenly pointed at me, a sly gleam flashing in his eyes that belied his age.
He was clearly doing it on purpose!
At these words, Alpha Aaron's expression darkened considerably, contorted with a mixture of shock, fury, and suspicion.
Serena feigned annoyance, giving Tiger a light smack on the backside.
"Don't talk nonsense! Alpha Aaron died in battle five years ago. How could his Luna be pregnant? Unless..."
As she spoke, she deliberately turned those watery eyes towards "Beta Liam" with a knowing look.
I was about to explain.
But seeing the look in his eyes—as though I'd truly cuckolded him—left only a bitter laugh in my heart.
Explain?
What good is explanation to someone who no longer believes you?
"If you wish to remain on the estate, you ought to adopt a more humble attitude."
I spoke coldly, my voice quiet yet carrying an authority that brooked no argument.
"This is Alpha's estate, not your Beta's home!"
With that, I gathered Leo into my arms and turned to leave.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Alpha Aaron's expression—a mix of astonishment and fury—and the satisfaction it brought me was beyond description.
Could his rage, his humiliation, even begin to match a fraction of the agony I'd endured?
