CHAPTER 003

AURORA'S POV “You’ll be worth nothing to him, nothing more than a pet,” she added. Rage settled in my core after listening to Rebecca trying to hurt me more and more with her words. Without hesitation, I slapped her across the face. Her hand crept to her cheek, unable to believe that I, the slave who had lived in fear for years, had the guts to slap her. Luna Hera was stunned and couldn’t even utter a word as she watched me walk out of the house. Walking out, I met a very expensive black car parked at the gate of the packhouse. The fear and questions returned, as I approached the car. I slowly grabbed the handle with trembling hands. “Be quick!” I heard him snarl from inside the car and I trembled a little. I stepped into the car and a pit settled in my stomach with the gaze he threw at me. Turning his attention to the road, he drove really slowly, as if he was not in a hurry to reach his destination. As he drove, his eyes were fixed on the windshield. He looked scary as hell. Well, he was attractive and had great features, but the silence and the coldness he radiated only heightened the pace of my heartbeat. As time passed and he didn’t speak, I decided to. I knew nothing about him—the man who was taking me home after just buying me—and I wanted to at least know his name. “What... What is your name... please?” I asked, summoning the courage to voice the first question that came to mind. There was silence. He didn’t even act like he heard me. I cleared my throat, deciding to ask again, louder this time. “Wh-what is your name?” I asked again. Instead of getting a response, I almost had my head bump against the dashboard of the car as he forcefully hit the brakes, stopping in the middle of the road. At that moment, I wondered what I had triggered inn him, my heart racing. “What do you think you are doing, omega?” he said, not calling me by my name like he did back at the Moon Stone Pack but instead using a title that reminded me of my place beneath him. I was confused by his question and didn’t know what to say at first. “I... I just,” I stammered, scared of the way his piercing blue eyes bore into me but deciding to finish my sentence anyway. “I just wanted to know the name of the man who spent a million dollars to buy me.” He continued staring at me without a word. Then, all of a sudden and to my shock, he took his right hand off the steering wheel and grabbed my chin forcefully, tilting it upward so I was forced to look directly into his eyes. I gulped, fear consuming me at the coldness that always came from his touch. “Now, listen and listen carefully, omega,” he said through clenched teeth, making it look like he might devour me raw if I failed to obey. “I didn’t buy you to become my mate. I bought you to serve me. For this, you have no right to ask me any questions. Serving me means you are going to give me a baby. That is all you need to know—not my name, nothing else,” he said in a cold tone that made my heart sink. My chest grew cold with fear, and I could barely hear my heart beating anymore. He had just reminded me of my true fate with him, and all I could think about was dreading the moment it would actually happen. While he held my chin firmly, I couldn’t help but wonder: If he wanted a child, why didn’t he just get a wife? Why get a Breeder? “Another thing,” his voice broke through my thoughts, startling me. “You don’t speak unless I ask you to. I don’t like to be disturbed, and I have little tolerance for noise,” he said, finally releasing my chin. The coldness of his touch lingered even after he let go. “Do I make myself clear, omega?” he asked. I gulped and nodded quickly. He turned to me and snarled, “Speak up!” “Yes, Alpha,” I said in a trembling voice, as submissive as I could be. “Good,” he replied, starting the car again. I sat beside him in silence, but my mind was far beyond the car, imagining what it would be like to assume my new role as his breeder. ----- The car came to a stop. Without saying a word to me, he unlocked the car and stepped out. I exhaled before opening my door and stepping out as well. I saw some pack members walking around the camp despite the late hour. All their eyes were on me. Some even pointed and whispered among themselves. I didn’t have a wolf yet, and consequently, I could not hear from that distance to know what they were whispering about. But the look on their faces scared me. When my gaze shifted away from them, I noticed the Alpha was already walking into the mansion. I was confused about what to do—should I stay by the car or follow him? I was too afraid of making the wrong decision. He disappeared inside completely, and the air stuck in my throat was finally released. Suddenly, a woman who looked like a maid, appearing to be in her 40s, walked out of the entrance where the Alpha had gone in. She approached me purposefully. “Aurora, right?” the woman asked with a smile that seemed forced. “Yes. And who are you?” I asked. She sighed and took my arm gently, leading me toward the mansion. “My name is Zelda. Alpha Caspian has ordered me to clean you up properly and give you better clothes before you enter his room,” she said in a measured tone. Caspian! That was his name... Soon, we arrived at a room in the mansion. Zelda asked me to sit on the bed, and I did as she said. She moved around, gathering cleansers and other items, then led me to the bathtub for yet another bath. I wanted to tell her I had already bathed, but I stopped myself, knowing better than to go against Alpha Caspian’s orders. Settling in the tub, I let her scrub my body gently, like I was royalty. I had never received such treatment. Considering I was bought as a slave and a breeder, it made me curious. “Did Alpha Caspian really ask you to do all this?” I asked. She nodded, raising her head from where she was scrubbing my foot. “Yes, this is my job,” she said, and my brows furrowed. Her job? But I had only just arrived. Why did she call it her job if she had only just started with me? Zelda must have noticed my confusion because she decided to explain further. “I understand you’re a bit lost. Well, if it’s worth knowing, you’re not the first breeder. Alpha Caspian has had breeders in the past. You’re only the fifth,” she said. My eyes widened in shock. The fifth? “And the others, where are they?” I asked, my breath hitching as I waited for her response. She gave me a grim look before answering in a whisper. “They’re dead.” My eyes widened and I covered my mouth in horror.
