I peer around the corner in the white house; I found last night, a familiar female voice… wait, can this be? Is this her? Her wild red hair bounces as she slowly makes her way to the top, her petite figure clinging to her crossbow… “Don’t open that door,” “s**t, no, help me! s**t!” I rush her position, bolting two steps at a time after her… She hits the wall and my heart sinks. s**t… “Are you awake? Please tell me you will be okay?” My voice annoys me, “Forgive me, I didn’t mean to frighten you,” I flicked at her, “I-I’m fine…” Oh, yes, it’s her, I know it’s her… “Bells, Bell…” A bright smile flickers toward me, she knows I love my shoulder-length dirty blond hair and of course, I’ve grown a beard… “Ethan, oh, gosh, Ethan, is t-that you?” My grin grows wider every second, “Where were you all these years, Bells? I never thought we would see each other again,” “Yeah, me too, Eth,” I swipe her off the ground. And pressure my spinning, I’ve missed her petite body, I’ve missed everything about her. I let her down slowly… she peeks at me innocently and I collide with our lips, my fingers knot in her wild hair. And I pull away… what’s wrong with me? Why would I pull away? I’ve missed her, I longed for her and I end it just like that… as if I kiss anyone passing my way… stupid… stupid… stupid… “I’m sorry… a-about the fall though, are you okay? A-anything broken?” She nods… shake at my firm grip around her petite waist. “How did you survive all these years, Bells? I never thought I would cross your path again, although I knew you would survive, you’re one heck of a girl,” She jerks at me… my shuttering chuckle brings out her smile, “I-I mean… y-you are… you know…” She chuckles at me, “It’s okay, thank you, I’m glad to see you too,” I hug her again; I love her warmth, it’s something I can never get enough of, it’s something I want to treasure forever. Her warmth slowly leaves me, “How did you end up here?” I clear my throat, “It’s a long story, but I found this house last night,” “Oh…” I snuggle her into a hug again and my pressure tightens, I’m going to explode from the love I have for her. “Are you okay, Bells?” I don’t want this to go away, she’s clinging onto me, my heart can’t smile brighter than it already is, “Yeah,” I stroke her hair gently. “It’s okay, Bells, everything will be okay, this frightens me too, at the start, I didn’t know how I will survive… I prayed for you every day, I wished every day you would cross my path, I-I lost a lot, to those damn things… too much,” I sniff in the air, “I’m sorry, Eth, I know it’s difficult,” My pressure tightens whilst my chin rest against her hair, “You have nothing to be sorry about, Bells,” I can sense she feels like this is her fault. When those scientists screwed up, I know Miller had something to do with this; he was the funder. Why was he funding a highly classified mental facility? Why was he funding them to work on sick patients whose incurable? “I lost my family just like everyone else… just like you, Bells, this curse, or whatever this s**t is, it has to end, there must be a stop… a cure, I must do something about this,” But nothing we do can stop this s**t from spreading, everything from mutating, everything from taking over mother nature. I should have known that day, I should have, but I did nothing and Rose and my children paid their price. “Bells,” “Y-yes,” My mysterious smirk peers at her, “W-we need to find another house,” She nods, pulling away, “Okay…” I hand her crossbow and I can feel her heartbreaking; I saw her house, I can only imagine what she went through to reach this point. I know what I went through… “This house is immense…” I can’t help glancing at her every second thought, she’s beautiful, even in this messy, fuc-ed-up world, she’s still beautiful. “Mind me asking, Bells? But what happened to your family? I was there… on my way to this house… a-and… yeah…” She falls to her knees explaining, my poor Bells, the horrors she faced without me, if I was there, none of this would have ended so horribly, I could have prevented this, I pat her back… I pity her and I shouldn’t show pity, but she needs it. She deserves pity, she’s been this strong-willed woman, fighting things she doesn’t understand, fighting through this savage world to reach her goal, I pity her heart… “I miss them too, Bells, I’ve been alone for so many years, I can’t imagine how they would have handled this situation, but I guess it’s best they don’t experience this madness, right? Better like this than keeping them sane,” I tug her into a hug; she rests on my lap, tugging her head into my neck… after everything I found her again, after everything we both face, we’re together again. I know there is a God, and I’ve always believed… she’s my proof. “I missed y-you, Bells, I honest to God did, I never thought I would see another soul again, I always believed, w-we would find each other again…” She holds her tongue; my pressure on her hip’s shivers through her skin, “I missed this feeling…” She tilts, “W-what…” I baffle my mouth with a smile which makes her smile… “I-I mean… I miss having another on my side, having someone to talk to, having someone to share this crazy world with… and now I have you to share everything with… I promise I won’t let you go, Bells, I promise to protect you… I-I promise,” She knows I’m hiding my past… I’m not good at hiding secrets well… “T-thank you, Ethan… w-what happened to you?” My expression changes to shudder, “I-I… it’s a long story, Bells…” “I don’t care, Ethan, I want to know… I can see the hurt in your eyes, something horrible must have happened to you…” I bend my memories… my pressuring falls back to her hips… “I-I’m sorry, Bells, I don’t mean to… I-I can’t… tell you,” “W-why,” I pressure her hips again and her lips parch slightly. I know what triggers her… anything to get her mind off my past. “Ethan, you can trust me, please, tell me, I want to help,” I blink toward her, “I’m looking for my brother. Last I heard he was in Paris, but that was two years ago… I received news before the outbreak,” “Is he still alive? I mean, where do you think he would be right now?” I sigh in a bend, and shake, “I-I don’t know, I received word he died, but I know those bastards lied… he could have gone to Japan, perhaps,” “Then let’s find him, Ethan, I will help you,” I jerk toward her, “Are you sure?” She nods calmly, “Yes, where do we begin?” “We search Paris, and then Japan,” She nods… “Thanks, Bells, it means the world to me,” She caresses my cheek causing a shiver deep inside of me, “Of course, Ethan,”
