Tate Tate jerked awake and sat up, his heart racing. Swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, he paused to rub the sleep out of his eyes before checking the time. A quarter past three, still too early to go downstairs to get back to work, but after that nightmare, he wasn’t sure he would be able to go back to sleep. He looked back over his shoulder at Kelly sleeping peacefully, glad that his dream had been just that, a dream. He didn’t want to know how he would react if he actually lost her. With a groan, he stood and padded into the bathroom to relieve himself. Flushing the toilet, he stopped at the sink, turned the water on, and splashed his face with the icy water before surveying himself in the mirror. Dark shadows rested underneath his amber eyes, and his eyes… his eyes were dull
