Kelly Air whooshed out of Kelly’s lungs as Carrowyn’s defensive spell hit her in the stomach, making her stumble a few paces backward. Gasping, she tried to stand up straight, but couldn’t seem to make it all the way up. Her chest burned. Running a hand down her front to ascertain nothing was broken, she looked up at Carrowyn, wide-eyed. Still stumbling, she made her way over to the nearest tree and placed a steadying hand on its trunk before bending over double. Struggling to catch her breath still, she waited impatiently for the magic to subside. Whatever Carrowyn had hit her with, it was trouble and she needed to learn how to do it herself pronto.
