CHAPTER 2: NEW ALLIES

1412 Words
After the dangerous incident in the abandoned area, Aia sought refuge in a small apartment arranged by a former acquaintance. While tending to her wounds, Aia reread her grandmother's diary. The words gave her a new direction—a name: Zack. Zack was a former friend of her ex-boyfriend, Hawthorne. A man with a good reputation, but with deep connections to Aia's past. According to the diary, Zack held another piece of the puzzle—a piece that could provide answers to Aia's questions and the search for the treasure. The next day, Aia looked for Zack. She learned that he was a mechanic in a small garage. When Zack saw her, he immediately noticed the wounds on her arm. Concerned, he took care of her and offered his help. Trusting the former friend of her ex, Aia told him everything that happened, including the information from the diary. Zack was shocked by what he heard. He didn't know about the secret organization and the treasure it protected. But he believed Aia, and he was ready to help find the truth. Zack promised to use his connections to help Aia find the other pieces of the puzzle. As they were planning, Hawthorne suddenly arrived. Aia was surprised and immediately asked why he was there. Hawthorne explained that he was worried about Aia after hearing the news about what happened in the abandoned area. Hawthorne also showed remorse for his past actions. But there was something Aia didn't know. While Zack was reviewing the information Aia had given him, he discovered a shocking detail—Hawthorne was actually one of the grandsons of the man who had cheated Aia's grandmother. He didn't know how to tell Aia. This information could affect their plan and their relationship. One quiet evening, as Aia was getting ready for bed, Zack arrived at her apartment. With hesitation in his eyes, he began to speak. "Aia, there's something I need to tell you. I discovered something about Hawthorne..." Zack paused, waiting for Aia's reaction. He saw concern on the young woman's face, her eyes full of questions. "Do you know that Hawthorne's family played a big role in your grandmother's past? Hawthorne's grandfather, ... Don Ignacio, was one of the people who cheated your grandmother's family and stole the treasure." Zack stopped, gauging Aia's reaction. She didn't speak, but Zack could feel the worry and shock in her body. "I don't know how it happened," Zack continued. "But the truth is, Hawthorne is that man's grandson. I don't know if he knows the truth, but..." Zack couldn't finish his sentence. Aia stood straight, her eyes fixed on him. Tears began to stream down her face. "I don't know what to do, Zack," Aia whispered. "The man I love... his family is connected to the people who cheated my grandmother. I don't know how I can face him." "I know it's hard to accept, Aia," Zack said. "But you need to know the truth. You can't judge him for the actions of his family. But you also need to remember that Hawthorne's grandfather wasn't the only one who stole the treasure. There are many other people involved, and you need to find them too." With those words, Aia began to think. She needed to make a decision. She needed to choose what to do. Her heart was filled with pain and anger, but she knew she needed her strength to face the challenges ahead. "Zack, we need to find the other people involved," Aia said, her voice laced with worry and anger. "We need to get the treasure back and return it to my grandmother's family. We need to prove that not all members of Hawthorne's family are like their grandfather." "You're right," Zack replied. "And I'm with you on this. Together, we'll face the challenges and find the truth." After her conversation with Zack, Aia decided to confront Hawthorne. She needed to know the truth from his mouth. Her heart was filled with fear and anger, but she had no time for hesitation. She needed to express her feelings. Aia returned to her apartment, and soon she heard footsteps outside. Hawthorne. She immediately went downstairs and waited for his arrival. When the man saw her, Hawthorne was surprised, but there was a mixture of joy and worry in his eyes. "Aia," Hawthorne began. "I've been looking for you." "We need to talk," Aia replied, her voice firm. "About your family and the past." Hawthorne saw the seriousness in Aia's tone. "What do you mean?" he asked, his eyes seeming hesitant. "I know your grandfather was involved in what happened to my grandmother," Aia said firmly. "I discovered everything, and I don't know how you can continue this." But instead of facing her questions, Hawthorne's tone changed. "Aia, you shouldn't believe everything you hear. There are things you don't know. The people around us have reasons for acting the way they do." Aia struggled to get his attention. "You can't mislead me, Hawthorne. I know your family has secrets. And I need to know the truth." At that point, Hawthorne seemed to change his mind. "Sometimes, it's better not to know everything. If you remember, there are things that are more painful to know." With those words, Aia decided not to argue anymore. "Maybe we should just rest. I need to think about this." And with those words, Hawthorne decided to leave. As he left, Aia was left with questions and worries. Just as Hawthorne left, Zack arrived. His presence seemed like a light in the dark situation. "Aia, what happened?" he asked, full of concern. "I expressed my feelings to Hawthorne, but he doesn't seem to want to face his past," Aia replied. But soon, Zack seemed worried too. "Aia, I have new information. I discovered that Hawthorne's grandfather wasn't just an ordinary man. He has connections to a larger organization that's trying to get the treasure. And the people around him, many of them, are also part of that organization." "What do you mean?" Aia asked, her heart racing. "What's their connection?" "There are people from past decades who have been hiding secrets from us. This information could help us figure out how to avoid them and how we can try to get the treasure before it's lost forever," Zack replied. But Zack hesitated to tell Aia. "I don't know how you'll take it, especially since Hawthorne is still involved. But we need to plan." "Zack, I need to know everything," Aia replied, her voice filled with determination. "Whatever happens, we need to be prepared." As Aia sat with Zack, she thought about the information discovered from her grandmother's diary. The pieces of information gave her ideas, but she had to be careful about her next steps. "Zack," she began, "we need to plan how to reach the people involved in the organization. From what I read in the diary, a few names came up. If we can find these people, we might learn more information about the treasure." Zack nodded, his eyes full of support. "Yes, but we have to be careful. The people around Hawthorne are not simple. We need to prepare strategies." As they thought, Aia offered some suggestions. "First, we need to find any documents or evidence that connects Hawthorne's family to what happened to my grandmother. If we can track down those documents, they might provide enough reason to confront them." "That's a good idea," Zack replied. "And if we can find people who have connections to the organization, we can get information from them. Maybe there are people who have gone against our enemies." "One more thing," Aia added, her voice filled with determination. "I need to confront Hawthorne. I can't avoid him. He needs to know the truth about his family, and he has to choose where he stands—with his family or with me." "When you're ready, I'm here for you," Zack replied. "We'll face the challenges together. This fight isn't just for you, but for everyone affected by the past." As they talked, Aia continued to think. The information from the diary, the new information Zack had found, and her discovery about Hawthorne—all of it gave her questions and decisions to make. "Zack," Aia said, "this won't be easy. But I'm ready to fight for the truth. I need to know everything. And if necessary, I'm willing to fight for my family and their rights."
