I frown and look up when I don’t hear him answer to see him just sitting there, staring down at his phone with the dopiest smile on his face.
I narrow my eyes.

I call flatly and his head snaps up immediately.
“Sorry.”
He mumbles, giving me a sheepish smile.
“What has you so distracted?”
I ask, and hold out my hand before he can answer.
“Give me that.”
I say and he hands over his phone without protest. I look down and I see something I wasn't expecting. It is a video of Melia at one of the shelters again, but this time she is in a room full of cats. One climbs into her lap, another swats at her hair, and she is laughing while she tries to talk to the camera.
