"FREAK"

The car struck the edges of the cliffs and suffered a huge wreckage before it landed.

Both Malcom and Mary had became unconscious, but young Arthur was still behind strapped to the seat belt by Mary. She had made sure to strap Arthur into the seat belt before the car fell. Arthur struggled to get free and winced in pain as few cuts had been made on his head. Malcom gasped back to life and looked to his right and could see Mary with her eyes dead open, then he could blood gushing from her neck. A broken glass had pierced her neck, and she was dead before they landed. He gulped as tears began falling from his eyes and tried moving but also discovered a shrapnel had ran through his belly. It was then that he could see blood on his legs, and hands.

He struggled as he winced in pain to free Arthur from the seat belt. He groaned in pain.

“Daddy”, Arthur quivered and Malcom forced a smile.

“Daddy will get you out”, Malcom said as he mustered his last strength and unhooked the seat belt for Arthur. “Go, escape from here. You are a special one my son. I am proud of the man you’d become. Don’t forget this memory, and all I wanted for you is to stop them in whatever they are doing. It’s not for humanity sake. You would be an Enigma to them in the future”, Malcom said with a b****y grin and he pushed Arthur out of the car.

“Run!”, Malcom shouted.

“Mummy”, Arthur shouted in his tiny voice and tried to get back in the car but the car exploded and Arthur was swept away. He was knocked upon a tree and he fell down slowly getting unconscious

Not too long, Arthur was being carried by a man and the man was running in the woods while he was getting unconscious slowly till he finally gave up consciousness.

“Just hang on, nephew. Hang on .. I’m sorry I was late”, the man said hastily. “I will save you”, he added and reached a place where a car was parked. He went into the car and dropped Arthur in the front and sat in the driver seat. The car boomed away with a great speed.

**(At the scene)**

Up above the cliff where the car fell from a man was there looking downwards towards the car wreckage in the woods. After some moments an explosion occurred and the man smiled as he took his phone and dialed a number.

“It’s done”, The man said and the other receiver was silent.

“Did you confirm the kill?”, the coarse voice finally responded.

“I didn’t have to. The car blew up”, the man replied with a smug.

“And the child?”, the coarse voice asked and the man sighed.

“C’mon, I don’t know about that but everyone in that car is pretty fried”, the man said. “Will you consider my offer now?”, the man added.

“I will think about it”, the coarse voice replied and hung up the call.

**(At the hospital)**

A man with a helmet rushed into the hospital with a boy on his back and two nurses went to him.

“What is wrong with him?”, a nurse asked.

“He survived an explosion”, he replied. And quickly they arranged a stretcher and Arthur was laid on it.

“Can you please make sure, Sicily is the one who attends to the child?”, The man asked and the nurses nodded.

“Do you know her somewhere?”, One of the nurses asked and the man just sighed. Then they pushed Arthur away briskly.

“She is…..or was my fiancèe”, The man whispered as he ran out of the hospital.

*********** (After few weeks)*********

A lady walked into the ward and opened the door and on the door was a boy lying there with a bandage. She checked his pulse and his heartbeat, seeing the results made her smile and exhaled. She looked at the boy and sat beside him. Then two men walked in.

“How is he?”, one of them asked.

“He’s stable. He suffered hemorrhagic stroke and the surgeon performed craniotomy. He relieved the pressure on his brain because the bleeding area is large”, she explained.

“Did the surgeon specified on when he will wake?”, first man asked.

“Nope. But his vitals are showing improvement day by day, I believe he will wake up soon”, she replied.

“So…I heard you said you want to take him into custody once he’s kicking”, the other man stated and Sicily nodded.

“Well, you know we don’t have that power. And we need to contact his family somehow”, first man said

“I am merely taking him in as a guardian or custodian. I’m not adopting him. I just want him to be with me while you make search on whomever his parents were, but for a boy to have suffered something like this, I’m not sure the parents were alive”, she replied.

“Someone brought him?”, second man opined

“Yeah. Might be someone around the scene when the accident happened and isn’t ready for police story”, she said and both men glanced at each other.

“I’ll put word through the D.A and see if she can help”, the first man said

“Thank you”, Sicily replied and turned to the boy. “You will get well soon, dear”, she whispered and both men exhaled.

“You really love the kid, don’t you?”, first man asked and Sicily just sighed and the man nodded. “I will try my best for you”, he said and walked out with the second man.

“C’mon baby. I know you are stronger than you think, you can get through this”, Sicily whispered as she took out a torn out paper of the surgeon report. And on the paper was written all the surgeon’s observation on the child but a note was added “Freak”, she exhaled and tore the paper into pieces and put it in her pocket.

“You are not a freak, boy. You are just special”, she whispered. After a while as she sat, one of the boy’s finger moved and he slowly opened his eyes.

“Wow. I knew it. Welcome baby”, She said

“Where is Daddy and mummy?”, the boy asked amidst stammer.

“They …..they won’t be here for a long time. You survived because daddy and mummy protected you”, she said and held his hand as tears fell from his face.

“Will you be my mummy?”, the boy asked as he sniffed

“Huh…sure I can”, she replied. Then the boy pointed to himself and said “Arthur”.

Sicily smiled at this and pecked his forehead.

A man walked in to his office and took off his lab coat, he exhaled and poured himself a glass of liquor. He held the cup in his hands and smelled the fine scent of the drink.

“Cheers”, a voice and the man shivered making him drop the cup.

“Who are you and how did you find your way here?”, the man asked as a figure with a mask came out from behind the door and sat in front of him.

“Hello doctor”, the figure said as he took out a g*n.
