With just Josiah and I in the room, it felt even more crowded and claustrophobic than it had before. I felt the shadows converging, crowding the space that Garrick and Harper had left behind as they vacated the office to stand guard outside. It had taken what seemed like an age of angry whispers and fervent arguments, before finally and reluctantly, they had relented to my insistence that I would handle Josiah's demands.
