I chose the path towards the right and walked faster than usual. I don’t want to run because it might exhaust me easily, and I don’t want to cause trouble later on. There were a lot of things running on my mind now, especially Lena’s safety. I understand why she ran away, and I know his father was just concerned.
In no time, I arrived at the stream. Checking the surroundings, I slowly crossed the stream avoiding myself to slip or fall. It was a bit slippery, and since it’s night, it’s dangerous. The water was ice cold, and I felt myself shivering as I continued to cross the water. After a few minutes, I reached the end of the stream. I tried to remember the path that we took going to that side of the mountain. Walking at night and doing this at the mountainside is really difficult.
“Lena! Can you hear me? Where are you?” I shouted, hoping that she already went down from the mountain. There was no response. Maybe she is still up there. The air was beginning to get moist and I could feel the droplets of rain.
Fixing my pajamas, I began to run towards the mountainside. I should reach the place before the rain pours heavily. In a few minutes, preventing myself from falling, I covered enough distance. In exchange, I was breathing heavily, as my heart was banging on my chest loudly. I am not really an athletic person, and this kind of thing exhausts me faster. I stopped for a bit, trying to catch my breath, and looked around. I pointed my flashlight at the path, examining the place again before I continued on walking.
Catching my breath, I followed the path that I remember going to a special spot that Lena showed me. Everything will be very tricky this time, because on the wrong movement I might slip and fall towards the ground.
“Lena, where are you?” I shouted but there was still no response. There might be a possibility that she is not here, but we need to make sure that we check every place. I volunteered myself to go here, and there is no way I would turn back.
Crap! The rain began to fall. This is not what I wanted to happen, because it will be more dangerous. I hastened my pace and continued walking towards the path going to the spot where Lena showed me. The chilly rain water hit my body, causing my body to shiver even more. To add to that, the wind was blowing a bit stronger, causing the visibility to lessen. I shouted again to call Lena, but there was no response. I reached the bottom of the mountain, scanning every part of the path hoping that I would meet her on the way. Still, there were no signs of Lena. I picked up the phone in my pocket, and tried to call the people on the farm, but there was no coverage in this area.
I need to continue going up now.
