Her body was burning with heat as strong as volcanic Lava, and the only thing that could save her is the cold drink in the deep freezer just some steps away from her.
The weather that day was very annoying and tiring as she struggled in the large and long gown that servants wear. Her family had been cremated, and the families of the deceased servants had been compensated to prevent legal action. Mr. Donald had no intention of finding the real killer of his brother; he had already found his suspect, Tiffany.
He turned her into a maid in her parents' house, where she performed all the household chores, which she rarely did before. She washed clothes without a washing machine, dried them, cooked, and cleaned the entire mansion. The pain and shock she experienced from the death was a haunting memory for her. It paralyzed her, making her emotionally weak and sick. Her heart, mind, and head were devoid of emotions. Her friends came to visit her once, but her uncle warned them not to visit her again.
Tiffany lived on with the pain in her heart, she knew that arguing with her uncle was pointless, her uncle cannot be blamed. Who would it have been? She was the prime suspect. Anyway.
Mr Donald's daughter, Lisa, made her life a living hell. She ordered her to sweep the house, being that Tiffany once bullied her when her parents were still alive, then she took it out on her.
That hot afternoon, as she was trotting toward the freezer, someone stopped her!
"Hey! Murderer! Are you even supposed to drink? You killed your own family and you still had the gut to drink? Lisa asked, making Tiffany cringe.
"I..I just wanted to have some, since it's too hot in here.” She stuttered, which made Lisa burst out laughing.
"Hot? Get on your senses and go back to the slums where you belong!” She shouted and locked the freezer, then kept the key in her purse and walked away majestically.
Tiffany fell down, hot tears gushed out of her face, this is too much to bear but what choice did she have now?
As she was still there, someone passed a bottle of chilled cola to her, it was Georgia, a servant who had worked for her father before going to work for Mr Donald, but she's now back since her parents and servants had died.
Tiffany received it with shaky hands... "Thank you so much, Georgia '' She mumbled and sipped the drink sadly.
After the drink, Tiffany dragged herself to the servants quarters then began weeping again. Georgia came behind her again and patted gently and spoke some words of encouragement to her.
"You can't come this far to fall, Tiffany. I know it's not your fault but crying won't solve the problem, will it?'' Georgia asked.
Tiffany sniffed loudly and said, "Thank you, Georgia. I'm fine now. You've done your part. I suppose this is the terrible fate I am carrying.”
Georgia sat beside her and whispered, "Why don't you try to escape from this house? I can help you." Tiffany was shocked and stepped back, saying, "What are you suggesting, Georgia? Escape? My uncle would punish me severely!" Georgia replied.
"So, you want to spend the rest of your life as a servant in your father's house? If that's the case, then continue this way without any complaints!" Georgia started to leave, but Tiffany stopped her. She said tearfully. "I want to leave too, but I can't. If I leave, this house will belong to my uncle, and I will lose all the memories I have here." Georgia realized she had spoken too much, so she sat back down with her and gently patted her. She said, "If you don't let go of the past, you won't be able to face the future. Besides, if you leave the mansion, how will you be able to find your parents' killer.?"
After much advice and persuasion, Tiffany agreed to escape. The plan was set, it will happen in the afternoon when her uncle has to leave for work and his daughter goes shopping.
The plan was successful, Tiffany left the mansion with her old belongings and the little money in her bank account.
Tiffany stayed with her friend, Angel, for some days before she was able to secure an apartment at a very quiet estate.
Mr. Donald had been searching for her for days because Tiffany changed her phone number. He even filed a case, but it was unsuccessful.
Tiffany packed her luggage and left for the estate. She was supposed to meet with the management today.
"Madam, your money is not sufficient to purchase the type of house you desire. However, I did my best for you. This is the quietest home you will find in this area," the agent reported.
"Thank you very much, sir. Do you remember when I told you that I don't want any neighbors around me? I just want to be alone," she demanded.
The realtor removed his eye glasses "What are you saying, Miss Tiffany? If we found someone for this house, then we'll rent it out, that's final" He replied adamantly.
Tiffany, after much deliberation, agreed with the thought that she'll leave the house after having some money.
Tiffany unpacked her bags and settled in her new home, it was so nice to be away from her Uncle at least.
After unpacking her luggages, she created a notebook and titled it REVENGE!
"I'll make sure to put the killer of my parents in jail myself!” She swore.
Life has given her enough headaches and frustrations, it's time to pay life back the pains and frustrations by finding the killer of her parents and nabbing them in prison.
"May nobody come against my wishes and dreams. Mum, Dad, Kayla, hang in there, I'll make sure to avenge your death no matter what!” She'll promise herself that every night before sleeping.
She was able to have some money in her bank account because of the shares she got from her online investments, even though without working, she was earning her own keep, all alone, wallowing in self pain and anguish but keeping that gentle and crazy smile as the mask. The case of the guy she met at the hotel room on Angel's Birthday party was closed for now.
