After Tuppen left I told my Flynn boys I was going to take Brad on a tour of the campus and I would catch up with them later. We walked out, and I gave him a tour showing him all the buildings I thought he would be interested in. We ended up in the middle quad again, and we sat down just enjoying each other's company. We laid down on the grass after a while, and he tried snuggling up to me. "I miss this Shelly. Snuggling with dad is not the same." I giggle, "Yeah, I bet." "so, are you getting back together with Noah." He looked up at me and grinned. "Brad I don't even know if he still wants a chance plus Charles and I just broke up." "Yeah, well one Noah does want you back I know I see the way he looks at you. Two I am glad you broke up with that douche. When a girl says no, it's no. Just out of curiosity when exactly did that whole you telling him nothing happened. Was it before or after I got here." "After you were in the living room and when I told him you were there, that is when he got mad, grabbed his shirt and walked out." As we walk in, we grab a seat, and he tells me, "Shells I lied to you." "How so, Brad?" "Well, I said I only came here to visit, and that dad knew." "Yeah, Brad does dad know." "Yes, and no. He knows I wanted to come but not that I did. Shellybellie, he is hardly home now. He misses you, so he started working on the weekends with this new promotion he applied for, so I took off." "Brad, you are calling dad as soon as we get to the apartment to let him know." "Fine, but I didn't just come to see you, I have a problem." "Ok, what is it." "Well, there is this girl I have been seeing."
"Wait what no, you can't be dating your too young." "Shelly please I am 15 chill." "Fine go on." "Well she is a Sophmore, and well she remembers you and Lee. She also remembers Noah from when he would surprise you. She has said some ugly things about you, especially since her sister wanted to date Noah and he chose you over her." "She tells you this knowing who I am." "Well, she doesn't know you are, my sister." "Hello, we have the same last name is she dense." "No, she only knows you as Elle." "Oh, well, Brad, you have to decide what you want to do." "I want to tell her, but I am worried about her breaking up with me." Before I could answer him, I hear, "So, what are the Evans's up to...hey Lil' man what is wrong." Both Lee and Noah slide in across from us. "Hey Shelly, come on you too what is going on."
I look up at Noah "He wants to know what mom was like." I see my Flynn boys smile. "Oh, that's easy, Lil' man." "Yeah, all of us can tell you just ask." Brad looks at them "Yeah, but I know it hurts you guys. I mean, look at Shellybellie she is crying." I look at him "She loved you so much. The day she placed you in my arms, she was glowing. She told me that now, not only do I have a big brother, and my twin now, I also had you, my baby brother." As tears slipped down my face, Noah started up "yeah, and she looked at all of us and said I expect you kids to help take care of your little brother. Lee and I were so happy because now it was going to be three against one. Even though I loved Shelly like a sister, I still didn't want Mary to have a girl." "Yeah, neither did I. I wanted a little brother to pick on and play games with like Noah had with me plus, to be honest, I didn't want another little girl stealing time away from me when it came to Shelly." I looked at him "Mom just shook her head at us and told all of us that we were crazy because even I said I wanted a brother and not a sister." He smiled and looked at me, "really Shelly." "Really, Brad" I leaned in and kissed him on his forehead.
I got up and walked over to the jukebox and found Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindy Lauper slipped in the money and played it. Walking back to the table, I grabbed Brad and pulled him against me. "This was mom's and June's favorite song just like Lee, and I have Be Together." He looked up at me and nodded. "Mom and June had Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." We stood there holding each other, letting the tears fall. Next thing I know Noah's and Lee's arms were around us and I hear Noah say, "I know you two," we both look at him "Mary would be so proud of you guys. She loved you both with her whole heart. I hate it that she left us so soon."
