“I’m sure you have questions. All of you for that matter. I won’t hold anything back. Anything you want to know, I will tell you. I don’t want secrets between any of us. Classified files or not.”
“Vi, when she said you protect the innocent and prevented wars, was that true?” Jonah continued to scrutinize my face.
I sighed and nodded. I turned to the computers and began to pull up my files. “I can show you some of my missions if you want. Just not Paris.”
“Why not Paris?” Jasper’s voice held suspicion.
“Paris was bad, for lack of a better word.”
“It was more than that!” I heard Jake’s angry reply to my comment.
“Jake, please don’t.”
“No they need to know. Paris was a set up to kill her. Blaine set it up with mercenaries. They were supposed to capture and torture her to death. She killed about three fourths of them before they could take her down. She shouldn’t have even been there, we knew it was a trap. She went anyway.”
“Mo chroí is that true.” The anguish I heard in Jasper’s voice broke my heart.
“Paris was a set up meant to kill me. I survived. Since Jake has already explained most of it to you I guess I can show the file. Just let me warn you, there are pictures that could be upsetting.”
“Chere we want to know.”
I refused to look at anyone as I pulled up the file. I could see Jake out of the corner of my eye fuming. Sara was crying silently beside him. She wasn’t with us in Paris but she had accessed the file to find out everything. I took a deep breath and brought up the photos in the file. The first ones were of the warehouse after I had killed most of the mercenaries attempting to kill me. They had taken pictures from every angle. I forgot how messy it was. I allowed them to see my handy work while I flipped through them slowly.
The next photos were the home they had taken me too. They showed a room next to the one I was held in. There were bodies dumped unceremoniously inside. I had about twenty-five that took me hostage. I managed to kill them one by one. After the first day I had taken out five. Those were the bodies they were seeing. I flipped to the next picture, this was the room they had held me in. My blood splattered the walls. The only thing in the room was a chair with chains attached to it. I took another deep breath.
I moved to the next ones that showed the rest of the home. While I had been there fifteen of them ran away saying I wasn’t worth a death sentence. I hesitate to change the picture this time. I glance at Jake and Sara. He nodded and Sara cried harder. The next picture slid onto one of the screens and chaos erupted. This picture was of me after I had been found. My clothes wear torn and tattered, blood covered me from head to toe. My left eye was swollen shut. I had wounds throughout my body. Each picture after that first one, documented every injury I sustained.
I could hear Jeremy growling uncontrollably. Jackson was growling low. Jasper’s hands were aflame. The heat coming off him was stifling. Jonah was shaking with rage. I knew they were waiting to find out what happened. So I turned to face them. Every man was looking at me protectively. Even Jake looked homicidal.
“Before you ask anything let me finish the story. There were twenty five men that took me hostage. The first day I was with them, I killed five of them. Those were the bodies you saw in the first picture. Fifteen fled, didn’t really matter since I tracked them down later. The remaining five did the damage you saw. Torture was true. I was stabbed, shot, burned, electrocuted, punched, and….” I trailed off terrified of the reaction I would get.
“All of the injuries you see is from the torture. It took months to heal from the beating I received. Those five considered what to do to me since they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I got away because they were stupid. If they would have left me chained to the chair then the story might be different. They unchained me to have some fun.” My voice broke as I remember that day.
“They decide to r**e me.” The room fell into complete chaos. I just hung my head as all my mates began cursing and making plans to murder them.
“Stop it!” Sara yelled into the room. She was still crying but she knew this was worse on me to relive that day. Everyone went quiet but the tension never left.
“They unchained me and started arguing about who would get me first. I pretended to be weaker than I was. It fooled them. I was able to knock them all unconscious. I chained them up in the room I was held in and called home. When the agents got there, I was in and out of it. I told them about the five tied up. They took them into custody immediately. John put them in holding cells until I could decide their fate.”
The tension decreased a fraction but I could still feel their rage burning. “So I was taken to the hospital wing. I spent about six months in a coma. My body was trying to recover from the damage. Jake could probably tell you what happened while I was out. I came to completely healed but sore. The doctors explained the extent of the damage to me. My body was a mess. They were surprised I was able to survive the damage and blood loss.”
I looked at Jake and could see how those six months were for him. I walked to him and hugged him to me. Sara joined our hug still crying.
“That was the worst six months of my life.” Jake whispered into the room.
“I wasn’t with them yet but after reading the report and seeing the pictures.” Sara shivered.
I pulled her closer to me and held her for a moment. “When I woke up John told me about the five in the holding cells. After he heard what I went through, he lost it. He tortured each one personally since I didn’t have the strength to do it myself.”
“I was there when he did. He did to them everything they did to her. The burns, cuts, all of it. I watched him allow them to feel everything they put her through.” Jake’s voice was strong and vicious.
“When I was fully recovered and cleared for work, Jake and I tracked down the ones that got away. They hadn’t done anything to me, so their deaths were quick. After that John came up with a warning system for us. He took it hard when I came home damaged. Rachel was by my side everyday. She told me after I was awake that she couldn’t leave me. She felt like I needed her next to me. John was there with Jake most of the time as well. The only time they left was to question the five I had captured. I’m sure it was a rough six months for them.”
My voice came out soft while I stared into Jake’s eyes. The pain was plain for me to see. When I woke up he refused to leave me for the first few days until John went to handle our prisoners. I gave him a grateful smile. I sent waves of comfort and love to him and Sara.
“This was no one’s fault but my own. I was warned that if I didn’t go to that warehouse then they would kill those I held dear. I knew they would so I went. I went armed and began taking them down. I knew if I let them live then they would make good on their threat. I hadn’t realized at the time that Blaine had set all of it up. He had sent me to Paris officially but he hid his plans for me. I didn’t find out about his involvement until we tracked down the last of his hired men. The last one told me any and everything I wanted to know.”
Pulling back from Jake and Sara, I turned to the room. When had everyone else gotten here. I could see the rest of my crew standing around the room. They all watched me in silence. Jason was crying softly. I sighed again and looked to my mates. I saw Jasper’s family surrounding him, trying to comfort him. Justin and Luna were standing with Jeremy. Phillip and Roy were with Jackson, his eyes were glowing red. Last was Jonah, he was standing with Daisy and Sam. Daisy’s parents were there as well. I saw Gretchen and Gerald close to Jasper. They were both crying.
“I survived. That is what’s most important. I haven’t went to Paris since. Even as roughed up as I was, I still prevented them from raping me and chained them up. It cost me six months but I made it. I fought and never gave up. I started gaining others in my crew after that. I was so blessed to get such a wonderful group of people. You have been my family when I was all alone. I will be forever grateful to all of you.”
Brooks pulled me into a hug with L. I allowed them to hold me. They seemed to be making sure I was alive and ok. After they released me, Jason grabbed me. Tony joined us sobbing as well. I sent them both comfort while they regained their composure. I was not expecting what happened when Jason released me. Lee crushed me to him babbling about how brave I was. Olesia joined our hug and squeezed me. She was trying to talk but couldn’t seem to form actual words. I hugged them back.
Once my crew had let me go, I turned to the supernatural’s in the room. Isabelle was the first to move. She closed the distance and clung to me with Luther rubbing her back. I could see Luther’s eyes. The emotions in those ice blue eyes startled me. Grief, anger, admiration, and respect were there for me to see. Luther pulled Isabelle away as Azalea and Eren pulled me close. They both held me whispering something but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. Justin and Luna were next, Luna fell into my arms and held on tight. Justin held us both while Luna calmed herself.
When Justin was able to pull her away, Daisy ran to me. Her and Sam, both hugged me tight. Rose and Luke joined in our hug. They tried to comfort all of us while comforting themselves. Luke pulled Rose away the same time Sam drug Daisy away from me. Roy and Phillip hugged me between them, they didn’t hang on long but both nodded when they let go. Gretchen and Gerald both moved toward me. I got down on my knees and hugged them both. Gerald had to carrying Gretchen away from me.
My mates were all standing together watching me. Jeremy had tears in his eyes, he was the first to grab me. His kiss was gentle and full of love. I kissed him back with all my love for him. When we broke apart to breath, he placed his forehead on mine and squeezed me a little. He handed me to Jackson. His eyes were still glowing but they weren’t red anymore. His dark blue eyes held so much pain. I pulled him closer to me. I was alive and here with him. I would never go anywhere without him. He placed a kiss on my forehead and handed me to Jasper. His skin was burning up but I didn’t really feel it. He crushed his lips to mine. The kiss was just like him, passionate and wild. He broke our kiss and closed his eyes. Jasper handed me to Jonah.
Jonah was the only one I didn’t know very well. I could see everything in his eyes though. Anger and horror seemed to be at war in his mind. I gave him a small smile and tried to comfort him. He hugged me to him and took a deep shuddering breath. I could feel his emotions. The one that confused me was disappointment. I understood the anger, horror, and grief. Why the disappointment?
Jonah? What is it? I can feel the disappointment coming from you. I spoke into his mind. He hung onto me as if afraid to lose me.
He took another shuddering breath before answering me. I wasn’t there to protect you. I should have been with you. I’m disappointed in myself for not protecting you.
Jonah. I infused his name with love and compassion. Everything I’ve been through was not your fault. You were looking for me. We weren’t meant to find each other back then. Because of the pain and torment, I’m stronger, better, and faster. I’m alive and that’s what matters. The past is the past, it makes us who we are.
You are too good for this world Vi. I love you so much. I always have.
I pulled back to give him a real smile. “I’m alive. The past is the past. It made me who I am today. I wouldn’t change any of it, even the worst parts.”
Everyone in the room relaxed when I spoke out loud. Jeremy scooped me up then and began making his way back to the house. I cuddled closer to him feeling the wind on my skin. Before I realized how fast he was moving I felt the bed beneath me. All four of them crawled into the bed with me. Jeremy’s wolf whined and laid as close to me as possible. I pulled his back to my front, Jonah settled behind me. Jackson and Jasper filled in on Jeremy’s other side. I felt myself being pulled into blessed sleep.
