Jake was excited to have me join them. He teased my mates as I worked with different people. I was working with Jason and swords when I felt weird. I disarmed Jason carefully before examining the feeling. He was getting good but I was still better. The world fell away again. I saw a battle playing out in front of me. I looked around the battle field trying to figure out if this was the past or future.
I felt Phoebe before I saw her. “Phoebe? Is this my vision or yours.”
“You sound so confused.” She giggled. “This is your vision of course. I’m here to see what you do. Let’s watch.” She vibrated with excitement.
I turned my attention to the scene in front of us. I recognized Jasper right away. He was like a living flame. As I watched he transformed completely into flames. It was still his form but it was different. I watched him taking out some gremlins with his fire. He was magnificent. I saw a flash of brown and followed it. Jeremy was in wolf form and tearing through another group of gremlins. He changed effortlessly between his human and wolf forms. It looked completely seamless, no hesitation. It normally took him a little time to change. This was faster and more graceful than I had ever seen before.
I watched as he crossed paths with Jackson. I have never been afraid of Jackson, not once. This Jackson terrified me. He eyes glowed red with fire dancing in them. He was moving so quickly, it was hard to track. He ripped into a man that was trying to use magic. I heard him roar in rage. My eyes found Jonah next. He was glowing brightly with his magic. I watched him engage another wiccan. I started to move and Phoebe stopped me. I watched as the other wiccan dropped and Jonah moved toward his next opponent.
This had to be the future. My men weren’t this powerful yet. I noticed that Jackson was growing in strength since our souls were tied together. I saw another man walk down the center of the battle field toward me. He was intense. His hazel eyes were alive with mischief. His black hair reached his shoulders and flowed freely. He was bigger than the others. Bulky like Daryl and tall like Jasper. As I watched he flicked his wrist toward an opponent and they turned to dust. What was he? He reached me and stared into my eyes like he was really seeing me. He smirked.
“There you are. I’ve been waiting for you. I’ll be joining you soon. Once I do, this vision will be made real. Stay where you are my little mate, I am coming.”
Shock stole through me as everything disappeared. I looked around and I was back with the others. Phoebe stood next to me laughing. Everyone stared at her shocked. She giggled at the looks on their faces.
“I see they weren’t expecting me. I’m Phoebe! I needed to talk to Vivian so I hitched a ride on her vision.”
“The Goddess Phoebe?” Jonah was trying to confirm, I don’t think he believed it.
“Oh Phoebe is just fine. All that Goddess nonsense is so taxing.” She giggled again. “Oh the reason I’m here. Vivian what you saw was the final battle. Before that takes place you need to unite with your mates. The vampire already is but the others need to be as well. It will make them stronger. Oh and when that guy shows up, do him too.” She laughed at her own statement. I rolled my eyes as she waved to everyone and disappeared.
“Well that was an experience.” The sarcasm dripped from my words.
“What did you see Vi?”
“Well I was watching a battle. I saw all of you fighting. I couldn’t believe my eyes as I saw you guys fighting. You were stronger, faster, powerful. Then a man came to me. He said to stay where I was because he was coming to me. He called me little mate.” Everyone looked thoughtful as I wondered what Phoebe meant about uniting with my mates.
“Do you think she meant for you to tie your soul to the others little one?” Jackson watched me closely.
“That has to be it. She said you and I were already united. You’re the only one I tied my soul to. If I tie my soul to the others then you will fight like I saw in my vision. All of you were magnificent. I was even a little afraid for the enemy as I watched you four.”
Jason put his arm around my shoulders when I shivered. I guess the good news was I knew how to tie souls now. I knew Jeremy wanted that. Jasper had wanted to wait and I had no clue how Jonah felt about it. I was sixteen the last time I had seen him. We never discussed being mates or tying our lives together. I couldn’t force it on them just because a Goddess told us to. It had to be their decision.
“I’m ready chere. I will go first if you know how.”
“I remember how to do it. We were taught how it works and what to do growing up. I’ve never done it on purpose though. I can tie us together but I won’t force anyone to tie themselves to me.” I answered Jeremy, his face lit up in excitement.
“We are already tied my love. I couldn’t be happier.” Jackson gave me a small smile.
“Jack do you feel any different after your souls tied together?” Jasper was watching Jackson as he thought about the question.
“At first, I didn’t notice anything because I was so happy to be alive and still with our little one. Once I looked past that I did feel different but I thought it was because she pulled me from the spirit world. Maybe it wasn’t that. I do feel stronger than before. I seem to heal faster than before and my senses are enhanced beyond normal for our kind. The sun doesn’t bother me anymore as well.”
I gaped at Jackson. He never told any of us that. “Jack, why didn’t you say something?”
“Well Jay, I honestly didn’t think it had anything to do with our little one. I couldn’t figure it out so I never thought to share it with anyone. I don’t know any others in the same situation as I was and am.” Jackson stated this so calmly that I almost went to slap him.
“Seriously?” My voice was thick and my anger was infused in that one word. Jason stepped away from me quickly.
“I am sorry my love. I didn’t want to add more worry for you with everything else going on. Then it slipped my mind until it was brought up here.”
“I think I might kill you now Jackson.”
Jackson put his hands up as I stalked toward him. “Now little one, I made a mistake.”
“Damn straight, you made a mistake. You kept this from everyone when we promised to never do that. You made me promise to not hold back so we could face everything together. I even relived the worst day of my life when I told you about Paris.”
I felt my anger burn in my veins. He was not getting out of this. He nodded and looked around for a way out. Not going to happen.
“Let’s go Jackson. You’re next for weapons training. Choose your weapon and don’t hold back with me. If you do the punishment will be worse than this. You will meet me face to face.”
“I can’t do that my love. I would never be able to fight with you. Let alone not hold back. I would never want to hurt you in any way. Fighting you with weapons is out of the question.”
The evil smile returned to my face as I realized what to do. I felt my magic create a ring for us. I pulled Jackson inside the shield magically and tossed him a sword. He caught it out of instinct. He looked exasperated. He went to say something else when my magic hit him full force in the chest. I was forcing him into bloodlust. He would attack me in that haze.
I saw understanding flash across his face before his eyes switched to red. He snarled at me and gripped the sword tighter. I waited will he tried to fight it. My magic wasn’t in him any longer so he was fighting with himself. I took my own sword and slid it across the skin on my forearm. My blood welled up and Jackson’s head snapped to me. He snarled again and rushed me. He raised his sword and aimed to remove my head from my shoulders.
I put my sword in his way. When his sword connected to mine, I felt the power behind the blow. I felt it travel up my arm as I fell back into a crouch. He was still snarling but he seemed to be reevaluating his moves. He was good at strategy. I smiled at him and winked. He roared again and rushed me. I tossed my sword aside and somersaulted into his legs, taking him down. I could hear the others cheering outside the shield.
I rose quickly and pulled my sais. I spun them around once and readied myself for another attack. Jackson lunged at me and swung the sword. I spun to the left and avoided the sword. His fist connected with my ribs. I heard a crack and felt the pain instantly. I blocked it out and ran my sai down his arm. His blood flowed freely as he pulled away from me howling. I smiled as he growled at me.
“Didn’t expect that, did you.”
I was taunting him so he would make a mistake. I knew he was bigger and stronger than me but I could use that to my advantage if he just reacted and didn’t think. He threw the sword away and snarled at me. I saw his fangs were out. I holstered my sais and readied for an attack. My side was burning but I ignored it. I didn’t see him move but he was behind me. I dropped down and kicked up and back. He caught my foot and jerked me off the ground.
I was airborne before I could process what was happening. He caught me to his chest and sank his fangs into my neck before I could do anything. He was moving faster than before. I couldn’t even track him. He groaned when my blood poured into his mouth. I felt my magic close the shield around us, he began to pull at my neck. I moaned as my body writhed in pleasure in his arms. I felt his tongue lick over his bite mark. Then my magic exploded around us.
When Jackson pulled back from me his face was concerned. I could also feel the anger there as well. He looked me over before feeling my ribs that he had broken. I was completely healed as was he. I caressed his cheek and he breathed a sigh of relief.
“Please don’t ever do that again my love.” His voice broke.
“I had to see what our bond has done to you. You are faster than before and stronger too. I knew if I told you what I was doing that you would hold back. I needed you to unleash everything at me. It was the only way to ensure that you wouldn’t go easy on me.”
“I could have killed you.” The pain in his voice broke me.
“You would never kill me Jackson, even in the state you were in. Our love is too strong. I knew that no matter what happened, you would never end my life.”
He nodded and pulled me into his embrace. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. He buried his face in my neck and shuddered. I knew in my heart that Jackson would never do anything to harm me let alone kill me. What I said was true, our love was too strong. I could feel the relief in him as he squeezed me a little tighter. He loosened his grip enough for me to pull away. I looked into his eyes and saw the shame. The love in my eyes never changed. I sent him waves of love to show him nothing had changed for me.
“Let’s go to our room Jackson. I think we need a break.”
I saw the small smile before he tossed me over his shoulder. I was laughing as he walked away from everyone. I saw the others laughing at us. Jeremy, Jasper, and Jonah were following Jackson. I waved to the others before we disappeared inside.
“What is going on?” I heard Azalea ask from above us.
“Just training mom. Don’t worry. We have one on one training right now.” Jasper shouted over his shoulder before we entered our room.
