As I said in my Foreword, I feel the battle of Mollebakken is one of the more critical battles of the Viking Age. Though Harald Fairhair had already abdicated his High Seat to his favorite son, Erik Bloodaxe, Erik"s half-brothers rejected him as king. Had Erik failed to defeat his half-brothers at Mollebakken, or had he been killed at Mollebakken, the history of Norway and Northern England (where Erik would eventually rule) would have been completely altered.
There are several other elements in this story that bear some explanation.
First, the proper spelling of King Sigfrid"s name is Sigrød. I changed it to ease pronunciation.
