Janey woke on Saturday morning, her temples throbbing with a splitting headache. An alarm sounded, and she realized she’d forgotten to turn it off last night. “Sorry,” she muttered as she rolled over to get to her device. She silenced it, noting how the darkness still lingered outside, and then rolled back into Sean’s side. He’d been staying with her at Viola’s this weekend, though that had come about by accident and had been the first time. She’d stayed with him plenty of times, but Viola was more old-fashioned than Janey, and she hadn’t wanted any “strange men” creeping through her house at night.
