“I’m sorry, here you are the man that saved me from?” “Oh, yeah. So there was a gunman right outside the train station. I’m guessing you didn’t realize what was going on because the gunman was waving his gun at you and at that point I just rand and…” “You saved me?” He nodded his head yes watching her carefully. The doctor said to keep her stress to a minimum. “You saved me from a bullet?” “Thank you” she said with tears in her eyes as she stared at her savior. At that moment all she wanted to do was hold her little girl. “She goes to school in Brooklyn. Could you pass my bag. I need to get my phone so I can let them know she’s getting picked by your driver.” “Don’t worry my driver is an exceptionally good driver. She’s in good hands.” “Yes, hi this is Penelope’s mother. I’m sending a driver to pick her up from school. So please can you get her ready for me the driver should be ther right at dismissal. I’m sending his Information and the make and model of the car.Me? I’m fine Mrs.Acosta. What? I’m on the news? Ok. No, yes I’m okay. Yes, honestly I just want to hold my daughter. Thank you again on bye bye.” At that point tears came to Annie’s eyes. He came over to her as tears rolled down her pretty chubby cheek. He couldn’t help but wipe away her tear. She smiled at his kind gesture and realized that the only hands that ever whipped her tears away was once her mother when she was little and her daughter Penelope, her Peapod. She then remembered what Mrs.Acosta had said. “Hey can you turn on the t.v? I heard I was on the news.”
She thought she saw something flash in his eyes. She’d remember for later, she thought to herself.
“Sure”, he went and turned to the news which just came back on from commercials. “Next, a man saves a woman from a mad man with a gun after gunman’s attempted robbery was foiled by police. And her hero? None other then model turned tech mogul billionaire Zach Moore. As many may know Mr.Moore is said to be a genius and very much single. Will there be a love story blooming soon. Sounds so romantic.”
He turned off the tv “so should I text the car info to the school to your phone?” Did he just skip the entire news report about him saving her. Whatever she’s did have the strengths for this sure my number is… Fifth-teen minutes later her daughter was FaceTiming her from Zach’s drivers phone. “Mami, you okay? Why and who’s car am I in?” “Mami had an accident today so her new friend is doing Mami a solid.” “Oh your friend is very nice Mami. So is the driver bringing me to you?”
“Yes he is Peapod “
Zach smiled as he listened to the mother and daughter chat away. Before anyone knew it the driver had reached the hospital and within a few moments Anniebelle was holding her four year old daughter like she hadn’t seen her in days. “Mamí, are you sure you okay?, your acting like you haven’t seen me in forever.”
Penelope was very smart for her age. Zach noticed how she spoke. She spoke the vocabulary of an older child. Just then the little girl walked over and extended her hand to him. “Thank you for saving my mother life sir.” All he could do was take her little hand in his and say to her, “your very welcome.”
The little girl was an absolute beauty and so well behaved. With long curly reddish brown hair, beautiful green eyes and a beautiful caramel complexion. And dimples too boot. He looked up at her mother then at her child and asked “may I have your name young lady?” “My name is Penelope, mamí calls Peapod for short.” He smiled at her and says that’s a beautiful name and a pretty cool nickname. “Now could you tell me your mamí’s name?” “Oh Mami’s name is Anniebelle, Annie for short.” “Annie, beautiful.” Zach said as he looked over at Annie.
She kind of half smiled wondering why the man was staring at her in such a way. The kind of look a man gives a woman that he’s taken a liking to, but how if that’s the first time ever really spending time together. “Ummm, Mr.Moore thank you for sending your driver to get my daughter from school, but we should be heading home now.” “Mami are you going to your other job? Ms, I don’t want to go to grandmas. She always makes me watch Spanish t.v. Like she knows there are English t.v shows right mamí? And plus Tia Arianna is mean to me when you walk out the door.”
