Chapter one

He couldn’t stop looking at the chocolate brown skin girl with the slightly wavy jet black hair. Her sweet round face and chinky eyes, and heart shaped lips. Baby pink in the center outlined with chocolate swirl. She looked to be at least 5’5 but he could’ve been wrong since she was seated across from him on the subway. She wore black jeans, black doc martens boots and a black moto jacket. If it wasn’t for the Starbucks hat hanging of her bag one would’ve thought she was some kind of goth girl. He watched her tap her hand on her thick juicy thigh. Her nails were done nothing crazy, a simple French tip mani. He then let his eyes trail down to her feet wondering if her feet matched. He kind of had a thing for pretty feet. She noticed the sexy black man a cross from her. She almost thought he was checking her out, but she must’ve been really tired for that to even be a thought. She stayed up late last night finishing up her online course assignment. Luckily she was a few hours away from completing her online degree. She smiled to herself thinking about all she and her daughter had gone through in the last four years. Her mother was happy when she told her she was pregnant. “Really Annie? You gonna have baby?” She just smiled at her mothers broken english. “Si Mami. I want to have a boy first. That’s way I can have a girl then tie up my tubs.” “ Ay no… No hable asi mi hija.” I was just teasing because I know my mother, Lili has been waiting on earth for her grandchildren, basically for me to have children. Just so she could tell me “tu ves no es fasíl a ser mader.” Her mother was from a small town outside the capital of The Dominican Republic. Her father was a bastard who abandoned her mother with two little girls and a baby on the way. Her mother’s sister lived in New York, and since she was basically on her own she went to New York to live there and help her sister while raising her children. Her aunt Marieta was always hot and cold. Not really being overly loving to her nieces and nephew simply because that’s how she was raised. But she was especially cold to her own nieces and nephew. As Anniebelle sat on the subway thinking about her mothers life she couldn’t help and think about her own, as she knows her degree will her her and her daughter live a better life she contemplated on when it would be a good time to tell her own mother about the new apartment she and her daughter were moving into. Anniebelle her sister Arianna and their brother Victor Rafael wheat named after their father by the way mever saw their father after leaving the Dominican Republic. Her mother Lilianna never got with any other man. Devoting herself only to her children. Anniebelle remembers what her parents were like when she was little. Her mother always bragging about the love her father had for his family. She remembered the parties and good times. She always wondered why everything changed so dramatically and then to be moved out of the country so suddenly after her parents separated. It was never made clear to her and she never dared asked. Her mother had always said she didn’t love her father anymore but Annie knew better. Saying she only had time to work to provide for her children. He watched her little smile and the way it made her face light up. Just then she got up and got off the train. He wasn’t following her, let say. He did get off on the next stop which was about 10 city blocks away. She wa still on her headphones, she didn’t hear the commotion. She didn’t hear someone yell gun. Everything happened so fast. Before she realized what was happening she was in the ground under a, a man. She felt something warm and wet in her work shirt. The sexy black man from the train was on top of her. He smiled at her. She saw his lips move but she couldn’t hear him due to the loud music playing in her headphones, which he pulled them from her ears, he was worried she had been shot too, and he was scared she was going into shock. “Are you okay?” He asked her again, she just nodded her head . Then with what he could only call the voice of an angle, she spoke to him “are you okay? Oh my god your bleeding.” She looked at his upper left arm. His light gray suit was clearly ruined as blood ran down his arm. She tried to sit up but the back of her head started to throbb. That’s when he realized he hadn’t fully protected her. He cursed at himself for being so careless. Even though in the time it took for the gunman to pull out his gun and aim it into the crowd he had already made a move for the girl of his dreams. He ran past the gunman towards her, that’s probably what made the gunman pull the trigger. Luckily for Zach Moore the bullet went straight thru the back of his left bicep. She couldn’t believe her eye then in the blink of an eye everything went dark. She passed out from hitting the back of her head on the ground.
