Chapter 28Neither of us woke until after ten the next morning. I woke first and immediately got into the shower. I had a grungy feeling, although I don’t think it was entirely physical. I was almost through when I heard, “Got room for two in there?”
I opened the shower curtain. “There’s always room for two if you’re the second one.”
And so, Patrice joined me in the shower.
“I’m sorry about last night,” she said as she started to soap my back.
“Me, too, sweetie, but I’m glad we got to talk about it.” I turned to soap her, too. “I’ve been trying to think of a way to bring it up, but there was never a time.”
“No, and it’s too bad that it ruined our one night together. Now, I have to think about getting on a plane.”
