CHAPTER 5
“Are you nervous?”
Mia glanced at Valentina. “Do I look nervous?”
The older woman nodded toward the hands Mia had knotted at her waist.
She blew out a breath, consciously releasing the death grip she had on her own fingers. “Okay, yeah, I guess I am nervous.”
They hadn’t gone to Idaho. In her haste to get the hell away from Wayne, Mia hadn’t remembered all the documents that proved her identity. Those were, unfortunately, necessary when applying for a marriage license. So she’d had to suck it up and make the report on Wayne’s assault sooner rather than later. The whole thing had caused more than a few waves. Between worry that Brax would get into trouble, and anxiety over the fact that she was breaking the rules about lying low, Mia had been a wreck.
