Brooke keeps winning. Alex keeps mediating. Jason keeps coaching. Milo gets a few gigs with his new acoustic guitar in hand. Cliff takes over his father’s empire, and he’s good at it. I’ve never seen him in a position of authority before, but he knows exactly how to handle people—who he can and can’t trust; who’s on our side and who isn’t.
My second day on the job, while I’m reviewing rules and regulations for the insurance sector of his company, I point out to him that some of the restrictions are insanely unfair.
“I hate that,” he says. “My dad was all about tricking people into spending their money, and then tricking them out of getting anything back. We’re not going to be like that. Help me fix it, would you?”
