Chapter 20
The hospital’s Christmas decorations had all been taken down two days before, on Little Christmas, and without that bit of festivity, it had become downright depressing, although it could have been the mood Alex was in.
Talk about a rough two weeks. Just as Alex or Ran would begin to consider returning to L.A. or to Charlotte, another complication would set in. Thank God for fax machines and the Internet, and the excellent employees in both cities. He and his brother had been able to conduct business from Miami.
Alex didn’t know who was more surprised when he and Ran returned to their father’s room after that blowup on Christmas Day to find Dad was listening, although very grudgingly, to his cardiologist, and had agreed to an eventual stay at the Ponce de León Assisted Living
