Chapter ten - You wouldn't have been here

Kevin's POV:

Lizzy found out about the pictures. Since then, I haven't received any more. Both of us agreed it would be better if she stopped doing it. I don't want to upset my daughter. It's enough that she doesn't want to see me anymore. I guess I have to stop all my relations with her. This is the last thing I want to do, but I don't have a choice. She and Nia are the only thing I have. My parents died a few years ago. Noah and Nia came to the funeral. Her parents, as well. Lizzy was at home. I have shown them pictures of her. My parents have asked me many times why I left Nia. That's why I couldn't tell them. I have to keep this secret at the price of my life. It sounds ridiculous, but it's true. The less people know about this, the better. I want to forget about Lizzy, but I can't. I made a mistake, and now I want to fix it. The problem is that she is making it too hard. I don't know what to do with her. Force won't help. Also, I will never do it to her. Will she come to me or not should be her choice. At least her mom is not mad at me. I woke up and went to get ready for the day. There is something called a weekend. I have no idea what it means. We work all the time. My team and I have deliveries every day. I got ready and went to work. On the way, I stopped for a cup of coffee. I had one at home, but it wasn't enough. I drink more when I know I will have a heavy day. I feel like this one will be the same. I walked into the building and saw a table full of pills. The boys weren't there. Did something happen? I checked everything. Even the boss wasn't here. I wonder what has happened. I started packing when someone tapped my shoulder.

- Are you ok? You look worried.

- No one was here. I thought something had happened.

- You came early. The boys are on the way.

- Good. We have a lot of work today.

Otherwise, I risk her life. I went home and prepared dinner. I can't stop thinking about her. She believes that I'm hiding something. It's true, but she wasn't supposed to know about this. Well, it's my fault. I shouldn't have told her this. Now, she won't stop asking questions. It's not like I mind, but I don't want to talk with her about this. I took a box of biscuits and went to the living room. I might watch something. I sat down and heard my phone. It was Nia.

- Lizzy told me that she has talked with you. She believes that you are hiding something from me.

- How can I? Kevin, what happened?

- Nothing. You don't have to worry about her.

That was the last thing I needed. What am I supposed to do now? Lizzy won't stop asking questions. Sadly, she is like me. Now, I wish she had been like her mom. Nia is not like that. Who knows when this will be? Lizzy needs to focus on other things. I'm not that important. This doesn't mean I don't expect her to come to me. I need to think about what I should tell her.
