Chapter twelve - Dad, I didn't want to hurt you

Kevin's POV:

Lizzy came to talk to me. I had no other choice than to tell her the truth. She wasn't going to leave me in peace. I have to admit that she is like me. Both of us are stubborn. At least she promised me that she wouldn't tell anyone. I trust her. The question is about what will happen now. I don't know if things between us are well. I told her the truth, but it didn't mean she would keep talking to me. It's not a lie that I will love it. I think that we can start from the beginning. Well, I won't force her. This is her decision. I'm glad that we managed to talk calmly. After all, there is no need for arguments. The problem is that she knows where I live. I won't stop her from coming home, but it might not be safe. I haven't told anyone my address. That's why I chose this neighborhood. It's crowded, and not many people will notice me. If someone wants to follow me, they will find a way to do it. I'm careful because I can't afford to make a mistake. I haven't told Nia that Lizzy came home. It's better if she doesn't know. My biggest problem is Lizzy. She might start asking questions. I can't tell her anything about my job. The sad truth is that she is like me. Both of us are curious and want to know everything. Sometimes, it won't be good for us. I hope that she will never get in trouble.

It's the weekend. For the first time in months, I don't have to work. Our boss told us that his boss will be out of town. No one will make deliveries. He has some business to do. I can use the two days to do something for myself. It's not like I have plans. I can go out with the boys. Some of them might be busy. Well, I can always go to see Lizzy. I think this time, she will accept me. Finally, things are going in the right direction. I believe we can have peace.

Currently, I'm in the kitchen. I plan to make breakfast. For some reason, I decided to make more food. It was done in half an hour. Today's menu will be sandwiches. I made four. There is no way that I will eat all of them. I left them to cool down and went to get dressed. It's not that cold. This means I can go out. I was about to sit down when I heard the front door. I know who this is. There is only one person who knows my address. I opened the door and let her in.

- Good. Does your mom know you are here?

- Because I think you can tell her when you visit.

Lizzy and I ate our breakfast peacefully. I'm glad that she is in a good mood. Later, we walked out. I texted Nia to see if she had plans. I believe Lizzy wasn't going to do it. She agreed to come with us. Ben and Noah were invited as well, but they won't come. They will visit his grandpa. We met at the park. Lizzy saw a friend and went to him.

All of us went to a restaurant. Most of the time, I was talking with Nia. At least Noah is good with that. If it had been someone else, they wouldn't like it if their wife had been seeing her ex. I don't have this problem. After lunch, Adam left us. Nia said she had to go grocery shopping. Only Lizzy and I left. She wanted to go home with me. I still think it's not a good idea, but I can't stop her. Who knows when this will happen again? I will use the chance.

- Are you ok? - I asked

- I feel bad for my mom. Why can't I tell her?

- Just because she knows the truth doesn't mean they will know you have a family.

We dropped it and continued with the movie. After some time, she fell asleep with her head on my shoulder. I wanted this for years, and now I have it. It's like a dream come true. I would love to spend more time with her, but I don't think it's safe. If something happens to her, I will never forgive myself. I wanted to call Nia to come and pick her up, but I gave up. She can't know where I live. It's better for her. When she woke up, I took her home. I wanted to leave, but Noah didn't let me. I don't know why we are such good friends, but I like it.

- Lizzy, is everything ok? You are quiet. - Nia said

- What did you two do today? She looks tired. - Noah said, chuckling

- Nothing. We watched a movie. She is still sleepy.

Lizzy and I stayed in the backyard for some time. I convinced her to go inside. I wanted to try Nia's dessert. She knows how to cook. I'm sure Lizzy has learned something from her. She wants to come home more often, but I can't let her do it. There must be a way I can be close to her without putting her life at risk. The worst thing is that I can't talk with anyone about this. My parents are gone. Also, I never told them about my job. I was sure they wouldn't like it. That's why I kept this information for myself. It's not like this is helping me. I hope that Lizzy won't get in trouble because of me.
