As much as the weekend was the best he could ever remember, Tonio’s good mood was tempered by the knowledge that Maddy was facing Shawn alone. He understood her reasoning. He even agreed with it. But it killed him knowing she had to do it by herself, that Tonio couldn’t be there to help convince Shawn that he had nothing to worry about.
That was probably why he wasn’t surprised to have somebody knock at his door less than an hour after he got home. It was even less surprising to see that it was Shawn.
“No gun,” Tonio commented, then grinned. “Though considering you’ve got s**t aim when we play on the Xbox, I should be more worried about you taking a swing rather than shooting me.”
