Maddy started dating again two years after her husband had passed away, but she never dated seriously. She never tried to replace Bill with another man. Not because she didn’t want to marry again, but because Shawn needed to be the most important person in her life. He had been confused and angry. She didn’t want him to feel abandoned by her, as well. Consequently, she never had to consider how she would tell him that there was a new person in her life. And the thought had never crossed her mind that her first real boyfriend would be a friend of Shawn’s.
