POV: Zoey “You just dug your own grave, Zee. I will make you pay for this humiliation!” Donald texted me a few minutes after they left the party. I read his message and scoffed within me, enjoying my first taste of revenge. I can imagine him pacing my sitting room in anger, cursing and swearing at me and Sebastian. Too bad he couldn’t do anything about it because he still needs the contract from Sebastian’s company. “You must be feeling so proud of yourself, huh?” Someone whispered behind me as I sat at the VIP seat right next Sebastian. I don’t need to turn around, I already know that it was Natalie’s rude friend Rosalie. She has been sitting at the bar while Sebastian and I dealt with Jane and Donald. I tried as much as I could to avoid looking her way, but each time our eyes met, I caught her glaring daggers at me, making me feel very uncomfortable. “What do you want, Rosalie?” I let out calmly, responding to her without looking back at her. Sebastian was giving a speech about his family and how hard they worked to get here. This speech is fur his grandfather, he wants to welcome Gramps into the building with a standing ovation and that is why he is giving a speech about the family and their many accomplishments. His absence by my side is the reason why Rosalie is talking to me, and it’s getting annoying. “I want you to leave Sebastian alone! He is not on the same level with you, and you certainly do not deserve a man like him. You are a liability to him, and I suggest you leave now with your head held high. Else, I’ll be forced to deal with you and have you thrown out like the trash that you are.” She told me sternly, making me laugh at her silly threats. “You don’t scare me, Rosie. I’ve dealt with people far worse than you. Have you met my family?” I joked, reminding her of the scene from earlier when my own sister tried to humiliate me. “Believe me, you will realize that your family are nothing compared to me. I am the mayors daughter, Zoey. I have unlimited money and connection to sink a lowlife wannabe like you. Besides, I’ve known Sebastian since I was a child and I know things about him that you can never imagine. His family loves me, and I am best friends with his sister too. I have worked so hard to be in this family, I won’t let you take that away from me.” She told me fiercely, trying to intimidate me. “Do whatever you want to Rosalie, but stay the f**k away from me and my brother!” I warned her sternly, turning to glare at her this time. She smiled brightly so Sebastian would think that we are getting along just fine. “You have no idea what I’m capable of, I will make you regret ever coming to this family. ” she threatened once me before leaning back on her seat and smiling as Sebastian finished his speech and introduced the old man to the crowd. The crowd applauded him as everyone stood up in respect for his Grandfather. The old man looks so young and strong, and he walked into the banquet hall with poise and elegance. I can see why everyone adores him. Not only is he a billionaire, he is also a philanthropist and a lovely soul to be around anyone. After the party, Sebastian introduced me to his grandfather as his fiancée and the old man was stunned to meet me. At first he didn’t believe that I could be his grand daughter in-law, he thought Sebastian was lying and he called him a stubborn grandson. “I’m not lying, Gramps. She is my fiancee and we already live together. We just want your blessings, old man. Or, do you not want to have great grand children anymore?” Sebastian joked with him, sounding offended. “Fine, I’ll break up with her then. No more great grand kids!” he lets out sternly, pretending to be furious at his grandfather. The old man furrowed his brow in Thought as if he was waiting for the cameras to come out and prove that this is a prank on his fragile heart. “He’s not fooling around this time, Gramps. If he does I’ll smack him in the head,” Natalie joked, coming to stand by my side and hug me. “He finally found the perfect woman he has been searching for, Gramps. He brought home a sister for me,” she confessed excitedly, giving me hand a gentle squeeze. “Oh my World! You finally found someone to put up with your stubbornness, huh?” his grandfather let out teasingly, making everyone laugh at his jokes. He looked at me for a few minutes, sizing me up and studying me carefully. For a brief second, it looks as if he disapproves of our relationship, as if I’m not the kind of girl he wants for his grandson. Everyone noticed his disapproval, including Rosalie who stood by his side, hugging him like a leech. She smirked as he looked at me that way, hoping he hates me as much as she does. But he disappointed her when he turned to Sebastian, “I’m tempted to give her a chance because she is the first girl you ever bought home, but I’m not convinced about her intentions until I see a bump on her stomach. Did you tell her everything about our family, is she willing to live by our rules? We don’t want anyone that would embarrass us and bring shame to our family, Sebastian. Have you conducted a background check, have you...” “I know everything I need to know about her, Gramps. She is the only girl I can be with, the only girl that does not irritate me.” Sebastian lets out sternly, stopping his grandfather from asking too many questions. At this point, Rosalie whispered something to Gramps and his eyes widened in shock as he glared dangerously at me, fixing me a stern gaze. “What is your name?” he asked me with his eyes still fixed on me. “Zoey, Opa... Zoey Hollins.” I responded with my head bowed in respect for the old man. It’s a good thing that the guest have all gone. It would have been very embarrassing if all this was happening before the guests that had already seen me being embarrassed by Jane and Donald. “Hollins... Any relationship to the Hollins group of company and Hollins charity foundations!” he asked sternly, fixing his eyes on me. “Yes Opa, I am the only daughter of Richard Hollins and heir to the Hollins group of company. My brother is sick and bedridden, so I run the company and also cater to his needs. I continued the charity foundations when our parents died, and I don’t plan to stop now. I just have to settle some little issues in the company and everything will fall back in place.” I told him, my head still bowed in respect for him. “The issues you spoke about, does it have anything to do with the scene tonight before I arrived?” he asked me, surprising me with his question. “Yes, Opa... It does. I will,” “It’s nothing I cannot handle, Gramps. I can take care of my woman, that is not an issue!” Sebastian lets out sternly, his eyes fixed on his grandfather as if warning him to tread carefully. “She comes with a lot of baggage, and that is not good for business.” The old man told him, his eyes fixed on mine as if he was studying my reaction. “Like I said, Gramps. She is my responsibility and it’s my baggage. I will take care of it.” Sebastian lets out firmly, refusing to be intimidated by his grandfather. “For your sakes, I hope this doesn’t affect the businesses. I will not give my blessings until this whole baggage is gone. I will have my eyes on you two, and I will give my blessings after two months.” He lets out sternly, earning a deep frown from Sebastian who thought his grandfather would approve of me and let him take over the company fully. “I am doing everything you want, Gramps. I love Zoey and I will soon have an heir. Why won’t you let me take over completely, why wait for two more months?” he lets out angrily, voicing out his frustration. “That is my decision, Sebastian. I do not owe you an explanation for my decision. If you had brought a decent girl like Rosalie here, maybe I would have given you my approval and let you have the company. But you chose her and I have to be sure that she is not a gold-digger before I give you my blessings!” he scolded him furiously, making Rosalie so proud and excited to be named as the chosen one. “She has a lot of baggage, and that is not good for business. She is already causing problems for us and embarrassing us before our guests and business partners. Today she fought at your party, who knows what it will be next. You know me son, I do not joke with my legacy and family. Get rid of the baggage or get rid of her!” his grandfather lets out sternly, bringing tears to my eyes. “Of course, I know you Gramps. This has nothing to do with her family or the baggage you speak of. You want an heir, and you are just pissed that she isn’t pregnant yet!” Sebastian accused him, his voice full of disapproval and anger. “If you knew me too well like you claim, then you would have waited until she gets pregnant before presenting her to me.” He responded coldly before turning to walk away from us, his guards following closely behind him. I felt so guilty to be causing him so much problems when all he has done is take care of me and protect me. He doesn’t deserve this, he deserves to be happy with a girl his grandfather father approves of.
