Are you there yet? I link impatiently to Marie.
It’s dinnertime—late enough that she and Cooper should have reached Wilmington by now, since they traveled by car. Why haven’t we heard anything?
Quinn is with me. I’m letting her into the link with Marie now that she knows what’s going on. I was a little surprised she wasn’t more mad at me, but then, I never really intended to keep it from her for long. Just long enough to get them on the road.
Almost, says Marie. We took a little… detour.
I glance at Quinn, who giggles. I really don’t want to know the details.
