One of the many perks of being an author is that you can use real life emotions and experiences in your stories which can be quite cathartic and therapeutic.
Normally, I try to keep the two worlds separate, especially considering the fact that I write under a different name and I don't want people I know to discover that I'm Amethyst Knight which they will if they read one of my books and read something which could give me away.
