“I’d better go and check on Isabelle,” Sofia declared as soon as she and Delnard calmed down from laughing too hard. She stood up from the couch just as she heard Delnard’s mobile phone ring.
“It’s Jon, I have to take this. Please make sure she’s okay,” Delnard called out to Sofia’s retreating back. She glanced back and nodded with a thumbs up before disappearing down the hallway, towards the guest bedroom.
Sofia stopped in front of the door and knocked softly while calling out to Isabelle. She wanted to tread lightly because she knew Isabelle might have heard the laughter from the living room and might think badly about it.
