Derk didn't know what just happened, one second he had found his mate and the next second he was gone.
Gladys sighed, then said, "Derk, you have to excuse my son. He isn't the best under a stressful situation. He's a good boy. Just give him some time to think things through and he'll come back."
Russell walked closer to Derk and waited for Gladys to go back into the camper. When she was out of sight, Russell leaned in and said, "I love my mate, but she tends to stick her nose into things that are none of her business. Go, find Ricky and talk. Get to know each other. He's dreamed of having a mate since we first spoke about them when he was five. He isn't denying you."
