Chapter 13

I followed Darius and Daniel into his office, and my heart was in my throat. I don’t know what kind of punishment he is going to give them but I hope it's not bad. I know they didn’t know who I was, or what I was to Darius, I still don’t understand it but I guess it will come at the end of the day.

I watched as the girl who attacked me tensed up when she saw me, I could tell she was scared and she should be. Even though I wish I could smack her like she did me, I couldn’t bring myself to ask to do it. I am not a violent person at all but I knew I could hit someone if I had to.

“Come here, Anna,” Darius said motioning for me to come behind the desk, I did as he asked without saying anything. “Now who could explain to me why she was attacked?”

When no one spoke, I began to worry.

“Did she provoke anyone here?” Darius asked. “Did you feel she was threatening?”

“No.” the girl that hit me first spoke. “She doesn’t belong here.”

“And why do you say that?” Darius said annoyed. “Are you the Alpha, are you the one making the decisions here?”

“No,” she said lowering her head.

“Then why attack someone you know nothing about, because let me tell you it's the biggest mistake of your life Tiffany,” he growled. “She is your future Luna, and for this malicious attack on her, you are hereby banished and branded as a rogue, you step foot on my pack lands again, and you die.”

“But Alpha my family.”

“Tiffany,” he said annoyed. “You attacked someone in the kitchen for no f*****g reason, you do have any say in this, you are to be off my lands in two hours.”

I put my hand on Darius’ shoulder, I don’t want him forcing someone out because of this, yeah she deserves this but I feel bad since I don’t know if I would stay here, if he's doing this to ensure I stay, it won't.

“Let her stay,” I spoke up. “She would get more punishment here seeing me every day knowing she attacked me, was banished, and now spared by me,” I said looking at her, her eyes focused on me. “But if you think going out into the world like she is, then send her away.”

“So the Luna wants to spare you from going out there, but I don’t think I should,” he said looking at me. “But we’ll do this, if you do everything she wants and help me show her pack life is a beautiful thing, then Tiffany I will let you stay. If she leaves you leave too.”

“That's not fair,” I said annoyed.

“Sure it is,” he said standing up and pulling me closer to him. “It ensures you stay here with me,” he said kissing my forehead. “Go to training,” he said looking at the kids. “You are on thin ice, so don’t think about doing anything bad.”

“Yes Alpha,” they said before leaving the office.

“By would you spare her like that?” he asked touching my face.

“Because I don’t know if I am staying, and putting a kid out like that isnt right. You know just as well as I do she wouldn't survive in the human world.” I sighed. “I know you want me to stay, but I don’t know if this life is for me, I don’t know if I can handle being a wolf now. I wasn't one before, and I still don’t understand how it happened.”

“Fate,” Daniel said.

“I still don’t know what that means, I am going to stay for now but if I get attacked again because I am not supposed to be here, then I am going back to the city,” I said pulling away from him. “I know that's something you don’t want to hear, but it's something I want to think about. You don’t need me here.”

“I do need you here.” he sighed. “But I understand, I will do what I can to help you want to stay, but at the end of the day I know you are going to do what is right for you.” he frowned. “Can you do me one favor though?”

“Sure?”

“If you decide, I want you to reject me.”

“Reject?” I asked. “What does that mean?”

“He wants you to kill him,” Daniel said looking at both of us. “In a sense, it does kill a wolf when their mate doesn’t love them back.”

“Daniel,” Darius growled.

“What?” he growled. “Second chances are last chances,” he said annoyed. “You know what, if she rejects you it's your fault.” he left us there.

“Dont listen to that last part, it doesn’t kill me,” he said coming closer to me. “I know you are going to do what your heart wants and I will deal with losing you but I want you to know if you stay your life here is going to be a lot better than the human world, you’ll have to come to the forest to shift to keep your wolf strong.”

I didn’t say anything, I just walked out of the office. I don’t know what time it is, but I am exhausted and honestly, I don’t know what they are trying to do. I wanted to cry and I wanted to scream, but I knew it wouldn't do any good.

When I opened my eyes, it seemed like it was late in the day. The sun was barely out, and I didn’t want to sleep all day. Getting dressed I headed downstairs, no one was in the kitchen this time, which I was thankful for but I wanted to talk to Darius too. I don’t want him to think we couldn’t be something but I don’t want him kicking anyone out of her they might have nowhere to go, and I do have somewhere to go.

“Afternoon Anna,” Daniel said coming into the kitchen. “I see you got some much-needed rest.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to sleep as long as I did.”

“Hey don’t apologize, you did Darius a favor, he has been gone all day because of another pack and he told me if you got hurt again he would kill me.” he chuckled. “He knows you were in bed all day so you kept his stress down.”

“I need to go to my apartment,” I said hoping he wouldn't fight me on it.

“I don’t know if Darius would allow me to take you, let me ask him,” he said as his eyes did this weird flicker and glaze over. “He said it is fine he is almost here and since your apartment isnt fair we might be back before he gets back.”

“Alright let's go,” I said following him outside.

I don’t know if I will grab a lot of stuff or just a few things until I know I can handle this wolf that I am supposed to be getting. I am worried about what is going to happen with that too, what if I don’t want her? I know Darius and Daniel said I had to accept her for this to work, but what if I don’t?

“What if I don’t accept my wolf?” I asked.

“She will still be with you, but the two of you will be at odds, and you won't be able to control your shift because she isnt going to be controlled so she is going to rebel to want to take over forever.” Daniel sighed. “Please don’t tell me you are thinking about not accepting her?”

“I was just wondering what would happen, I mean I don’t know what I will do.” I sighed. “So she won't go away, she will just turn into a rogue wolf and make me shift when she wants to shift if I don’t accept her?”

“Yes.” He sighed. “Usually when that happens the humans get involved, we’ve lost some good wolves because the human part of them didn’t want it either,” he said looking at me. “I know it's scary and not something you were born into, but the Moon Goddess chose you for some reason, maybe you will bring into our pack something that we desperately need.”

I didn’t say anything since we arrived at my apartment, I didn’t want to be a burden on Darius since I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I knew if I left, it was going to hurt him, I didn’t know him that well so I don’t know if its love that he feels or if its something else since he lost his wife and then I happen to have the same name, and he seems to be overly protective of me, I kind of like that, but I can see it might not work out the way we want it to. I guess I am going to have to wait and see how things are with us, maybe we will work out maybe not.
