At last I had a break from my awful existence, but only a small one.
Outside in the world, the seasons of a full year and a half passed and my father’s business prospered greatly. Being kept as his secret pet, I had disappeared from all of my friends’ memories like a cloud of smoke and apparently no enquiries were ever made about me. By that point, I had become his utterly obedient creature, for I was, in the final analysis, not really a human anymore, and my Correction Suit ensured that I remained vulnerable, tormented and utterly obedient at all times.
