Chapter Thirty The charge hit the screen of the closest console at the checkpoint. Those screens tended to be made from artificial glass, and warnings always circulated about how this material would explode into a shower of tiny pieces with huge temperature changes. The glass did just that, exploding into thousands of fragments lit up like a fire cracker. The heat started a fire inside the exposed panel of the machine.
