Cali’s POV
“Good morning, Sir.”
Kakaupo ko pa lang sa chair ko ay bumungad agad ang sekretarya kong si Samantha na may dalang makakapal na naka-folder na mga dokumento. It’s my first day as the CEO of Alonzo Prime Holdings, the company that was established by my Dad. The company behind one of the famous and top-leading Super mall chains in the Philippines.
I guess, this will be a long day ahead for me as I will be working out this tons of paperworks.
“I’ll just call you if ever I will need something,” sabi ko sa sekretarya ko. Tumango lang siya at tinungo na ang pinto para lumabas. And just a second after my secretary went out ay siya namang pagpasok ng aking first visitor.
“So, the rumors are true!”
It was my older brother, Henry. The eldest among the Alonzo siblings. He has a position in the company, kaya masama ang loob niya na ako ang pinili ni Dad na maging CEO ng kumpanya, I was not even a part of it. I was originally having the time of my life in U.S.
Pero nakiusap si Dad na i-take over ko ang posisyon dahil lately, hindi gaanong mabuti ang lagay niya. At dahil na rin sa mga kapatid kong gahaman na si Henry at Winston na gustong agawin amg kumpanya ni Dad.
They may be older, but I used to call them by just their names.
“Welcome to my office,” sarkastikong tugon ko. “What can I do for you?” tanong ko saka nakahalukipkip na sumandal sa chair ko.
Mas lalong nangibabaw ang inis sa mukha ni Henry.
“Lumalaki na yata ang ulo mo kahit first day mo pa lang as CEO.” kumento niya.
Nginisihan ko lamang siya at nabaling naman ang atensiyon ko sa cellphone ko na nagri-ring. And it was our Dad.
“Hello Dad?” tugon ko sa kabilang linya. “Yes, I am here at my office now.”
Napatingin pa ako kay Henry para idiin sa kanya ang sinabi ko. “Henry is here to welcome me,” sabi ko pa saka ini-loud speaker ang phone.
“What is he doing there? Ginugulo ka ba niya?” tanong ni Dad dahilan para umikot ang mga mata ni Henry. “I am not doing anything!” protesta niya.
“Well, I just called to remind you about your dinner plan with the Abellana’s tonight. Kasama dapat si Henry.”
“Yeah, sure!” sagot ni Henry, pero ang totoong kinikilos niya ay ‘whatever’ talaga ang sagot niya.
“No need to remind me Dad, It’s my plan anyway,” I replied.
Dad dropped the call.
“Don’t you ever think na kakayanin mong magpatakbo ng kumpanya. It won’t take you long, so enjoy yur stay here.”
After he said that, lumabas na siya ng opisina ko.
I can’t even imagine how could I have a brother like him.

“Cali! My future son in law!” malugod na salubong sa akin ni Tito Arturo, ang Governor ng Cebu. He is my fiancee’s father. “Hello po Tita Carol,” bati ko naman sa kanyang maybahay na may kasamang beso.
“Hi Babe!” pagbati naman ng aking pinakamamahal na future wife na si Athena.
“Hi,” I responded and welcomed her with a kiss on the cheek. Limingkis naman siya sa braso ko at lumakad kami patungo sa dinning table.
We had an intimate dinner in a fine dinning resto. My family was also there.
Dad and his wife Claire who is the mother of my sister, Savanna. The youngest and the only girl among my siblings. Henry was there too and my other brother Winston.
On the other hand, nag-iisang anak lang si Athena ng mga Abellana.
The reason why we had this dinner is that, I will propose to Athena tonight in front of our family. I’m going to ask her to marry me. And everybody approved.
We used to be childhood best friends and I loved her since then. I didn’t know that our relationship will grow into romance. We’ve been in a relationship for two years now and I think, wala nang rason para patagalin pa. she is the only woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.
Bago magsimulang kumain ay naisipan kong gawin na ang binabalak ko. I can’t hold my horse anymore. Napatikhim ako at sinimulang magsalita. “Well, the reason why we are here today is that, I have an important announcement to make.”
Clueless na napatingin sa akin si Athena. “What announcement babe?” tanong niya.
Tinitigan ko siya at hinawakan sa kamay. I stood from my seat and pushed the chair aside to make space, saka lumuhod sa harapan niya.
“Athena Abellana,” sabi ko saka kinuha ang box sa bulsa ko at binuksan iyon na naglalaman ng isang diamond engagement ring. “Will you marry me?”
Napaawang ang bibig niya at tinakpan niya iyon ng kanyang kamay. She was too surprise that it made her eyes teary. Napatingin siya sa bawat isa sa naroong saksi sa proposal ko bago bumaling sa akin. She smiled and finally wore the ring and said. “Yes!”
“Yes?” pagkukumpirma ko at tumango naman siya. Tumayo na ako at hinagkan siya.
I can’t contain my happiness right now. My first love and my only love will be the future mother of my children. Soon.
We all ate happily that night.
