Kai's POV
"Where's Cassy?" Mom asked when I brought Shazmin instead. We attended a party. I brought my girlfriend because I f*****g wanted my parents to be aware that I have a girlfriend and it wasn't Cassy.
"Obviously not here," I answered formally. She was acting rude in front of Shazmin. I felt bad.
"I told you to bring her as a date, right?"
"She is my date." I glanced at Shazmin. f**k, mom really acted like a villain.
"You really are born a disappointment, aren't you?"
I took a deep breath when she finally left us. Shazmin looked so down. She didn't deserve to be treated that way.
"Don't mind them," I whispered, hoping it was just easy for her to forget how mom acted.
