“You can see me?”

You’ve got to be kidding me!

Umatras ako ng umatras while he stared at me. What the hell? He’s like staring right through my soul.

“I-I-I …” hindi ko matapos na sagot at napatingin sa paligid kung saan maraming tao na nakatingin sa akin. Seryoso? Hindi nila nakikita ang lalaking ito?! I glanced back at him and he was giving off a dangerous smile. I have to run. I can’t deal with this now. I can’t.

Napatingin ako sa ilalim ng bridge and noticed that the river’s flow is not that fast.

“Lilith,” I called my spirit and the thick green vines and leaves with a violet flower of aconite plant appeared at  my back and crawled into my arms. I extended my arm and the vines held into the railings. I have to run away.

I jumped from the bridge and crowd shouted pero hindi ako nahulog. I have my vines with me. I landed on the river and I ran away papunta sa bahay namin. Lumingon ako and I saw him chasing me. His eyes changed into gold na ikinagulat ko. What the hell is this guy?

I jumped high at humarap ako sa kanya as we floated into the air.

“Aconite Prison!” I shouted and my vines formed a cage at nasa loob siya nito. He smiled and just like that, my vines died. HE JUST SMILED, WHY DID IT DIE?

“You’re interesting,” he said coldly at bigla na lang siyang nakarating sa harapan ko. I saw his eyes clearly and my hands started trembling. Are those … dragon eyes? He’s from a royal family?! This is bad. This is really really really bad. I need to get away.

I grabbed the opportunity to let my vines crawl to his neck and I threw him away. He landed on the ground at hindi ko na siya hinintay tumayo. I landed on the roof of my neighbors and I jumped into another. Malapit na ang bahay namin which means malapit na rin ang mahiwagang kahoy na pinupuntahan ko.

If I’ll go there, hindi siya makakalapit.

I’ve never felt this way before. I’m kind of scared but for some reason, I managed to fight him, it made me feel excited pero hindi ko na pinansin yung nararamdaman ko at nagpatuloy sa pag-layo. The forest is already near, I just need to cross these trees.

Bago pa man ako makapasok sa forest, he appeared on one of the trees with blood on his head maybe because of the impact sa ginawa ko kanina. He’s standing on one of the branches while I was standing on the roof of our house.

“I thought we’ll talk?” he asked sarcastically at napalunok ako. Aside from committing suicide, this is the biggest mistake I ever made.

“What do you need?” I asked at ngumiti siya.

“You can see me,” he replied, “which means we’re both on A-class or you’re higher,” he added and my eyes widened. A-class? Me? That’s the third strongest rank of Spirit Casters!

“I-I’m not,” utal-utal kong sagot

“You’re not?”  he asked and he chuckled. This guy is bad news. I shouldn’t have stopped him back then. “or  you didn’t know?” he asked again at napaatras ako. He gave me a smirk and he bent his knees and he tilted his head with his gowing golden dragon eyes. “So you didn’t know? A poison holder like you in A-class is rare yet you’re staying here,” he said

“A-A-Anong pakialam mo? Leave me alone,” reklamo ko at tumayo siya ulit

“Hell no,” he replied coldly, “I already found a compatible partner right here, there’s no way I’ll stop until I’ll be able to take you to the mainland,” he added. He’ll take me to the mainland? Is he insane?!

“What? Hinding-hindi ako sasama! My life belongs here! Commoners like us are isolated from the mainland tapos dadalhin mo ako dun? Ano?! Ibebenta mo ako?” reklamo ko and he laughed

“You’re really interesting,” he said and his smile started to fade which made him scarier. This is bad. I’m about to pee in my pants right now. He’s too scary. “and you’re smart,” he added with a cold voice which gave me goosebumps.

“S-S-So I’m right?! Ibebenta mo nga ako?” I exclaimed

“Who knows,” he replied and just like that again, he appeared in front of me. We are now stepping on the same roof and his face is 4 inches close to mine. Just hearing him breathe is giving me an uneasy feeling. A feeling that if I abide, I’ll die. Kailan ba ako natatakot mamatay? Ngayon lang ata. I’ve been living my best life here tapos dadating lang ang taong to?! No, I’m gonna protect my peace at all cost! “There’s only one way to find out, at iyon ang isama ka,” he said and he was about to grab me but he jumped back. He noticed that? He’s extraordinary.

I secretly let a small vine crawl on him with the aconite flower which I coated a poison on it and he noticed that. He’s not just strong-willed and smart, he’s fast and wise. He’s a scary enemy.

“You got me,” he said with a smirk. I did not but I almost did.

“Umalis ka dito!” bugaw ko

“Hindi mo ba gustong pumunta sa mainland?” he asked and I got startled for no reason. Is it because I wanted to go?

His golden eyes vanished and returned into black. Tinalikuran niya ako at napatingin siya sa itaas.

“There is this school there in mainland where in a single student cannot go in without a partner,” bigla niyang sabi, “It’s Oak Hills Casters Institute but most people call it Duo Institute kasi hindi nila pinapapasok ng basta-basta ang kahit sino, kahit ay ikaw pa ay napabilang sa isang royal family. They’ll choose wisely,” he added at bigla siyang lumingon sa akin.

He looked at me seriously.

“What does it have to do with me?” I asked and he smirked. He really loves smirking and I hate watching it. It makes me wanna get his lips out of his face.

“We’re compatible. I don’t know why our spirits are compatible but we are.” he replied. “I’m from a Pendragon Family, the highest family status and you’re on the lowest yet we’re compatible. The thought itself is interesting,” he added

“How do you know we’re compatible?” I asked

He showed me his hand where I let my small vines secretly crawl. I saw a violet mark right there but it did not spread. It just stayed there. So I did get him but why is it not spreading?

The violet mark suddenly vanished and my eyes widened kasi ako lang ang nakakatanggal sa markang yun … maliban kung- tama siya. I read this one on a book. For poisoners, compatibility is it’s weakness kasi poisons won’t attack to a spirit its compatible with.

“I need you to come with me to the mainland,” he said coldly and his eyes turned gold once again. “I need your strength,” he added and he walked towards me. “The mainland needs you,”
