“I’m sorry,” he said after taking some of my blood without asking permission. He looked at me with his golden dragon eyes having blood stains on his mouth. Dinilaan niya ang mga natitirang dugo and he carried me away from the roaring sound. He jumped all the way to the tallest tree we could see at pinaupo ako sa makapal na tree branch.

I was stunned when I saw a blue dragon 50 meters from us. It was roaring and was spreading havoc among other animals. We could see how the other animals came running to our direction at linagpasan kami. Probably because they were too scared. I mean, seriously? Sino ba naman ang hindi takot sa dragons? They are gigantic and stronger than anyone could imagine. Dealing dragons is like doing a suicide and unfortunately, that’s what our mission is.

“I wasn’t expecting that. You literally sucked up all of my mana without even asking any permission,” reklamo ko at napahinga ng malalim. It’s not like I could do something now, I’m all used up. I can’t even move my fingers how much more dealing with that blue large dragon who roared with ice and freezing some of the trees in this forest.

“I had no choice,” he replied with a smirk.

“You had but you just didn’t choose it,” reklamo ko ulit at tumayo na siya. “You better kick that bastard’s ass. After sucking all of me tapos di mo pala matatalo? Ewan ko na talaga sa iyo,” I added at tumawa siya.

“Come on Cygnus, there is no way I can defeat that,” he replied and did some stretching, “Isa pa, wala namang sinabing patayin ang dragon hindi ba? I just to get 1 scale and that’s it,” he added and I frowned.

“Right but defeating it isn’t a bad idea. Kulang pa ba ang binigay ko? Is it not enough to defeat that dragon?” I asked.

“Why don’t you give me some of your life force kung gusto mo talagang patumbahin ito?” he asked.

“You’re insane.” reklamo ko at napailing na lang. “Go on, complete this mission and we’ll never go back here,” sabi ko at napatawa siya.

“Well, well, look who’s being optimist now. Are you sure I’m not gonna die there just to get one stupid scale?” he jokingly asked.

“Do you wanna die?” I asked.

“Hell no,” he replied with a confident smile.

“Then there’s no way you’re gonna die,” I replied with a confident smile just like he had shown.

“Well, then,” he said and he bent down his knees.

My eyes widened when his wings appeared right in front of me. I knew hed had wings but I didn’t really saw the details on it but now that I’m staring at it closely, my stomach moved out of excitement. I can’t help but smile as I watched his wings just like a dragon with a shiny golden color. It also has small visible veins which made me think that he was born with this already. The scales of the wings were shiny and I know for sure that 1 scale from his wings will cost expensive.

I glanced at him and he was smiling showing his fangs and for a split second, I saw a golden fire came out from his mouth when he sighed. I’ve never seen a resonated form this close. They really exist. This form exist. This kind of strength exist. The dragon I didn’t know really did exist.

Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko hindi dahil masakit ang marka na binigay ni Kailani kung hindi dahil sa lakas ng t***k ng puso ko. This is the excitement I’ve really been longing for. I can’t believe how awesome this feels like. It’s more like a heaven to me. If I’m really gonna die here, I don’t mind. I’m lucky enough to witness a rare form and experience this kind of feeling.

“You better stay alive, stupid,” I said and he glanced at me. He tilted his head and gave me smirk. That smirk gave me chills and it ran down to my spine.

“I think you forgot something,” he said.

“What do you mean?” I asked out of confusion.

“This stupid that you are referring to,” he replied pointing at himself. “belongs to the strongest family wielding the rarest spirit among all of Pendragon, or should I say wielding the only spirit that exist in our family,” he added. I didn’t know that. He never mentioned anything. “The Sun Dragon, the newest dragon breed,” he added again and my heart went crazy. A newly breed dragon in resonated form with its master right in front of me?! This is crazier that I expected! Pwede na talaga akong mamatay!

“Good luck then,” I said with a smile.

“I’ll get going,” he replied and he glanced back to the blue dragon who is already watching us from a far. He may have noticed Kailani as one of them. “Adios,” he added and in just one second, he vanished.

Agad akong napatingin sa blue dragon at bigla na lang lumitaw si Kailani sa harap nito. I can’t really see much of his expression but I can tell that he was enjoying. The dragon roared at him with a blue flames. I thought this dragon is an Ice Dragon- he can also breath fire too?

Kailani vanished again and he appeared behind the dragon. He extended his hand right above and the leaves started burning. Napanganga na lang ako nang may biglang lumitaw na malaking spear. The spear was really large, larger than the trees here. He pointed his hand to the dragon and the spear flew away to its chest. Sa totoo lang, I was expecting na lulusot talaga ang spear but I was wrong. It literally stopped into the dragon’s back as it drilled to its body. Ang laki na ng spear na ito pero hindi man lang nagasgasan ang dragon. I think my optimist vibe is dozing off already. I’m afraid to say this but I think, he’s really gonna die.

The spear drilled faster and y eyes widened when I heard a c***k sound. The dragon was huge so it was really having a hard time moving away at lalong-lalo na’t ang spear na mismo ang nagpapatigil nito sa pag galaw.

Kailani snapped and the drill got two times bigger. This time, th dragon roared out of pain and laid down on the ground. The spear vanished and Kailani hurriedly flew towards the dragon’s wound.

It took him about two minutes and then I saw him flyinf away papunta sa akin. When he arrived, he had minor injuries at agad akong napatinign sa dala niya. He showed it to me with a confident smile.

“A blue dragon scale!” he said cheefully. “Although mahirap talaga itong kunin kaya ito may pasa pa ako pero okay lang. Mission complete! Treasure secured!!” he added at napangiti ako. I glanced back at the dragon pero hindi na ito tumayo muli pero nag-iingay pa rin ito dahil sa sakit.

“That was awesome,” sabi ko.

“Thanks to your mana,” he replied with a smile.

“Umalis na tayo dito bago pa bumangon muli ang dragon,” sabi ko at pilit kong tumayo pero hindi kaya.

His resonating form suddenly vanished at napasandal siya sa tabi ko.

“Please don’t tell me you can’t move anymore,” I said with a frown. Because if you can’t really move, we’ll die,” I added and he chuckled.

“Then I guess we’re dying but at least we’re dying with this,” he said showing the dragon scale once more.

“Uh-huh,as if someone is gonna see us holding that s**t,” reklamo ko at napahinga ako ng malalim.  Sinabi ko nga kanina na pwede na akong mamatay but now that we’re really dying, I’m kind of disappointed. Talaga bang nagpunta lang ako dito sa mainland para mamatay dahil sa isang stupid dragon scale? Bad luck really loves us huh?

We sat for about an hour and the surrounding was getting darker but fireflies started appearing. The dragon stopped roaring and thank goodness it did not tried to follow us but instead, it flew away to the different direction showing his huge wound at his back. The surroundings were getting colder too and I think we’ll not die because of some monsters. We’ll die from hypothermia. Napatingin ako sa paligid at napahigpit ang hawak ko sa suot ko. Kung ito man ang last view na makikita ko bago ako mamatay then okay, so be it.

“Kailani,” I called and I glanced at him. His eyes were called and he was trembling. He must have overused his power.

“Kailani, don’t you dare close your eyes!” reklamo ko and he slowly opened his eyes with a weak smile.

“Are you scared that I’m gonna die ahead of you?” he asked with a weak voice.

“If I will give you another batch of blood, can you move”? I asked and his smile started to fade.

“I can move,” he replied and he looked away, “but you’ll die,” he added at napalunok ako. Then I guess feeding him is a bad idea.

“So we’re really dying here,” sabi ko at umiwas na rin ako ng tingin.

My eyes widened when I saw a light na papunta dito. My body can move but not completely kaya pilit kong binangon ang sarili ko para silipin ang liwanag na papunta sa amin.

“Kailani, I think someone-” putol kong sabi nang naramdaman ko ang lamig ng mga kamay niya. Ibinalik ko ang tingin ko sa kanya at hinawakan ko ang mukha niya. He’s cold! HE’S REALLY DAMN COLD!!

“Kailani!!” I shouted and he slowly opened his eyes. “Stay with me, someone’s here!” I shouted as I panic. Don’t you dare die here! We’re getting out! If only I have a small amount of mana, I can heal him from fatigue!

Napatingin ulit ako sa liwanag and it was getting nearer. Sana tao ito. Sana ililigtas kami dito. I take back what I said. I don’t wanna die.

“C-Cygnus …” he called at agad akong napatingin sa kanya. “A-Ang … l-l-lamig,” he added and my mind is not stable anymore. I’m panicking.

My body is quite stiff pero pinilit kong gumalaw at umupo sa harap niya. I grabbed him and let him rested on my body.

“This is the only heat I can offer,” I said and my hands started trembling dahil kinakabahan na ako. I can’t let you die. “Please stay,” I whispered and I was about to cry but then I heard something- no, someone below us. I glanced down and I saw Kali with minor injuries whole he’s catching his breath.

“Kuya,” I heard him called and my eyes widened. He called him kuya. He jumped towards us at agad niyang tiningnan si Kailani. He held his forehead at napatingin ako kay Kali. This is not his usual expression. He seem concerned and scared.

Napatingin si Kali sa hawak ni Kailani and I saw a faint smile.

“Nieve!” he called at biglang dumating ang partner niya.

“Your Highness, I found the way out,” he replied at napatingin siya sa akin. “He will be fine, don’t panic,” he added

Biglang kinuha ni Nieve si Kailani and that’s when I realized that he’s already unconscious. I took the dragon scale at napaupo ulit ako. Kali grabbed my arm at pilit niya akong binuhat. Nauna nang umalis si Nieve kasama si Kailani at agad akong napatingin sa kanya.

“You seem bothered, I thought you hated Kailani,” I said at napatigil siya.

“None of your business,” he replied. “But,” he added and he stared at me.

“Thank you for not leaving him alone,” he added.

He cared for Kailani.

He cared for him in a secret way.
