Spirit 63

Hindi ko alam kung tama ba itong ginagawa namin. Bumaba kami dito mismo sa nakita naming demon’s nest.

“I can’t believe we found a nest even though we ‘re supposed to look for their lair,” sabi ko habang tinititigan ang mga higanteng itlog.

When we were at the sky, the eggs were small pero nanag makababa kami dito, hindi ako makapaniwala na mas malaki ito kung ikokompara sa amin. The vibe seemed like dinosour eggs. It’s scares me a little lalong-lalo na kasi transparent ito. Kitang-kita namin kung paano nag momorph ang katawang tao at katawang demonyo. I’m not sure how they did this though- did they put two bodies or did they put only a human corpse and injected it with demon blood?

Sa daming itlog na nakita ko, I noticed something.

“They’re villagers, aren’t they?” Kali asked at napatingin kaming lahat nina Hex at Hugo na parehong may tinitingnan/ Hugo was staring at a little girl with such cute face but her lower body looks like an ant while Hex was staring at an adult man-half of his face is still human but the half was indescribable. If I were to describe it’s appearance- it reminds me of the movie villain venom.

“Dad,” Hex whispered. This is too painful. I don’t know how should I react.

“Shasha,” Hugo whispered. She must be his sister.

Umiwas kami ng tingin sa kanila at napatingin nina Gin at Tempest na halatang may hinahanap. I bet they’re looking for Beathan. In fact, after the nest were in complete view, nauna silang bumaba at naghanap kaagad. I know this is a bad move kasi baka puntahan kami ng boss dito but for some reason, I wanted to go down here too- I want to give justice to these people, they’re just ordinary people that turned into monsters after all.

Nabigla ako nang hinablot ako ni Kailani palayo at bago pa man ako makapagreklamo, mas nagulat ako sa nakita ko. There was this little boy, maybe around 6, who was about to reach for my feet. Hindi ko alam kung malulungkot ba ako. The egg he was in was destroyed maybe because of the collapsing incident kanina pero looking at him? A boy’s human upper body but with scales while his lower body was like a body of a snake. His nails were long and he has long fangs too. His eyes is telling me do stay where I am because just looking at his scales- I’m a hundred percent sure that his body is from a King Cobra. I’m not sure which poison is stronger since I’ve never seen such animal or spirit but staying away for safety precautions is my best option.

“H-H-Help,” the young boy whispered and his tears started falling. “P-Please help,” he added and he tried to crawl pero lumayo pa kami. Lor and Argo approached us and activated the barrier. I glanced at Lor who looked really worried and sad at the same time. If only we could save them.

I glanced back at the young boy and he kept attacking the barrier.

“Please help me, Mr. Spirit Caster!” he said as his scales shined but his tears kept on falling. If only I could help you, I will but I can’t. “Please,” he added and he cried loudly. His helplessness reminded me of what I was back in my world. I bet he wanna die. “Please,” he added again and this time his scales vanished. His snake body turned into legs and his eyes returned to normal. He knelt in front of us and glanced at me and our eyes met. This is the most honest eyes I’ve seen. “Please, kill me,” he said in a sad manner at napatakip ako sa bibig ko. I knew it- he reminds me of myself.

“M-Me too,” a young girl’s voice said at napatingin kami sa likoran niya. There we saw a little girle with butterfly wings- she was like a fairy but her forehead has this spiky horns that made her look scarier. “Please kill us all,” she added and she started kneeling down. There is no way I’m gonna kill them- they still have human consciousness!

“That’s the only way you can save us,” the young boy said at napalunok ako.

I glanced at Gin, Tempest, Hugo, and Hex who were surprised to see them. Tempest, Hugo and Hex glanced away with their clenched fist habang si Gin ay nanatitig sa mga batang kumakausap namin.

“Let’s fly,” Gin said coldly.

“W-W-We’re not gonna attack them from above, are we?” I asked with a nervous smile.

“We are, Cygnus,” he replied.

“What?! Gin! No, I am against this. They still have consciousness. There must be a way to st-” hindi ko matapos na sabi nang bigla niyang hinablot ang collar ko. His eyes - were filled with pain.

“YOU THINK I’M ORDERING THIS BECAUSE I WANTED TO?!” he shouted at hinablot ni Kali ang likoran ko kaya napabitaw si Gin.

“Calm down, Gin,” Kali said at inilayo niya ako mula kay Gin.

 “If killing them is the only way to stop the spread of this darkness then I guess we have no choice,” Gin said at yumuko siya. “If we can save their dignities by being murderers, then so be it,” he added and my eyes widened. We have to be murderers to save dignities of their remaining consciousness? We’re Spirit Casters! This is not something we do. I promised myself na hindi na dapat ako makakakita ng mamamatay na tao but what the hell? It turned out that I will be killing them!

“Cygnus,” Kailani called. I glanced at him hoping that he’ll be against it too but he wasn’t. He was biting his lower lip while holding my arm tightly. “Let’s just fly,” he added and my lips began to tremble. I glanced at those two kids earlier and they were looking at us full of hope. There is no way we’re killing them. I looked around and the eggs began to hatch.

“We’re flying,” biglang sabi ni Hex. Napatingin ako sa kanya and he floated in the air. A strong wind suddenly hit us at dahil dito, nakita namin ang mukha ni Hex habang siya ay nasa itaas. He was crying but he was preparing to attack.

Nieve’s ice appeared in front of my feet so I had no choice but to step on it. We all flew away and glanced below where the eggs are beginning to hatch. Some of them were happy to see us and encouraging us to attack but I just can’t. I’m not gonna attack. These are just innocent people-

“We’re killing them,” Gin said at napalunok ako. Pilit kong pinipigilan ang sarili ko sa pag attake. Nieve handed a sword to me and his eyes we’re dead. It seemed like he couldn’t care less anymore. He was casually giving me the sword and my hand just reached for it. His cold eyes met mine and I got chills.

“Sometimes,” he said coldly and glanced below while holding his shurikens made of ice. His hands were trembling but his expression was cold as ice. “Killing them is the only way to save them,” he added at napahigpit ang hawak ko sa binigay niyang sandata. “We have to kill them, Your Highness or else they might kill everyone else outside the barrier,” he added and I bit my lower lip at napatingin sa ibaba. Most of the the morphing humans are kids and I know they don’t wanna die like this but they just had no choice kasi kung meron pa, hindi na sila hihingi ng tulong para patayin pa sila.

“All set,” Gin whispered with a shaky voice and he directly pointed below. “Fire,” he added at nahagip sa aking paningin ang unang umatake- arrows made of light. It’s Orion’s arrows. Sumunod ang mga pag-attake at hindi ko na nalaman kung sino pa but the next thing I knew, I attacked as well.

I summoned my vines at halos kinuha ang mga tao kasama na ang mga hindi pa nasirang itlog. Kailani touched my vines and they were now burning. The sun started going up at hindi ko napigilan ang mga luha ko. The last thing I saw was that young boy with snake body screaming in pain. The moment he knew that he was about to die, he glanced up and I saw his lips moved saying ‘thank you’.

I feel heavy.

I feel empty.

I feel nothing.

The sun rays hit the burning eggs and humans. Gustohin ko mang umiyak pero hindi kaya ng katawan ko. I can’t believe I’m burning humans. I deactivated my vines and stared at the people dying and turning into ashes. I never imagines that I’ll be watching this kind of view. It’s like I’m watching hell but the difference is that, I made it- we made it. We burned them. We killed them …but

We saved them, right?

All we wanted was to save them from pain, to save everyone outside this barrier. We did the right thing … or should I say we did the best option. This incident will surely change the way how I look at things.

If being a Spirit Caster includes killing humans, then I shouldn’t have become one. My dad sacrificed his life to save the whole world and here I am sacrificing and burning these innocent humans to save the world. This is ironic.

Alam kong delikado sila kapag hindi talaga namin sila tataposin kasi pwede silang magpanggap na tao sa barriers when in fact they are demons already. Alam ko na iyon but I just can bring myself to accept that fact because they’re innocent. Whoever did this horrible thing will pay. I will never forgive these demons. I know our mission here is to find the lair but staring at my team’s faces, I can tell that we are thinking such dangerous thing- we’ll find the boss and kill it. We did save their dignities but we have to give them justice too. We can’t just go out like nothing happened- we are Spirit Casters! We will bring justice!

We will kill those filthy demons!

It took over an hour before everything was done and no one was left. I glanced at our side and the sun was completely rising already.

I will never be able to look at the sunrise the same again.
